All right Covid isolators... I have noticed many new climbers using terms incorrectly. Like a tick that says "fell/hung must flash next time". Huh ? So here is a quiz. Without googling, say what these terms mean.
Onsight Flash Redpoint Pinkpoint
extra credit:
Purplepoint Bobpoint
If you are an old-timer, don't give it away too soon. I wanna hear from true new-comers.

onsight= no prior beta and sending on your first go flash=sending on your first go but having knowledge of and studying the route Redpoint=placing all the gear and sending in the same go Pinkpoint= pre-placed gear
Never heard of the others
My Experience level= I've climbed outside around 20 times in a year and listen to the enormocast a lot. How'd I do?!?!

very good. any quibbles out there ? I will add a term i just made up... the FUpoint. Done in the presence of a beta-spewing local. I mention this because of a good story behind it.

Bobpoint. Climbed easily through the crux and then fell on the last easy part due to hold breaking or some other silly thing. When ego doesn't require getting the redpoint, you just move on. Named for Bob Harrington who Bobpointed several hard climbs. Only legitimate to claim a Bobpoint when it's obvious you could easily get the redpoint on the next go.

A bluepoint is when you belay for a send. Us old folks need to take what we can get.

In Europe (I think) they also use the term "first go send," but it doesn't mean flash or onsight. I'll add it to the quiz.

I'll also add a term that I invented, that's not any kind of "point," but it accompanies many ascents, and I bet almost every climber has experiened it: PCPS. Any guesses?

Seth Cohen wrote: Is this when you send a sport route only on trad gear? Yes. It's when you don't use any of the bolts on a route and only use natural protection. Thus, you can only greenpoint a route that has been bolted.

Yeah, the point might be how well you climb in particular. Me I get to flash just about everything. Since I use my long term short term memory loss to navigate the routes I climb. For me it makes no difference. I you can climb it. And you made it up. Well there you go. You are at the top. I am not going to de-point you for taking a fall, pulling on gear, slipping, hanging. I don't care. Just don't fall on me. I guess? But yeah I do respect the On sight achievers of the world. BadASS. and Flashers. All the rest are just practicing.

Squiddy. A meter and a half of pre cut 7 or 8mm cord for making ice thread anchors.
Tie up the cord into a fat figure 8 and there ya go. Precut, easy to whip out and tie with gloves on. No fuss no muss.
Squiddies. You heard it here first folks.

Greenpoint... I may have heard that one before.
Quibble with Matt's def of Onsight.. It's okay to look the route over from the ground, but binocs and drones are too much.
Bobpoint... you know you can redpoint the route in the next try or 2 but you don't feel the need to prove it to anybody and you'd like to move on.
Purplepoint... you do the onsight or flash in spite of a crowd of people yelling the WRONG beta !
FUpoint... every time the beta spraying local yells something, you intentionally do something different. Related to the STFUpoint AKA LeonaPoint.
Brownpoint seems to be: add sh*t joke here.
Headpoint... work up the nerve to do a scary route (or free solo).
Graypoint... don't know !
And I suppose the term "deja vu" is pretty easy.
