Anyone have experience with this harness? I'll be needing a new harness in the somewhat near future, and have been exploring options. Initially, was pretty set on the Arc'teryx AR-3XX. A wide belt and 5 big gear loops. The BD solution guide and Petzl Adjama are also on the list, but the Edelrid looks pretty good. Would be most curious about durability. It's described as a "lightweight alpine harness" which makes me think it may not hold up to daily gym use, sport cragging days, and long days in the alpine.

I have one. I like it, don’t love it. I wear a size 30 in most pants, other harnesses are the right size but the gear loops are too far back, or have to be tightened ALL the way down. This fits properly and I’m a fan of where the gear loops sit.

I really wish it had a haul loop. I also wish the tie in points were bigger. Sometimes I rock a purcell
prussik, it gets awfully tight in there, especially if you want to say, tie in with a crabber’s bowline, or haul a 2nd rope.

I would buy it again, build quality seems good, I’m happy with everything else, but I would love it with the above fixed, right now I just like it over the others I’ve been using. I have no experience with Dead Bird.

Right on! Curious to know what you'd use the haul loop for. I haven't used the one on my BD harness, but am excited to get a 5th gear loop.

Good to know on the tie in points. Even with the BD one, it sometimes feels tight. Not sure how that compares, but definitely good to at least look at when trying on.

I just got a Sendero a couple weeks ago. I was able to use it a couple times before everything shut down, so I don't have a ton of experience with it yet. First impressions are good though. I was debating between the Sendero, DMM Renegade 2, and Wild Country Mission. I have about a 28-29 inch waist and went with a size small (waist 27.5-33.5 in). It fits very comfortably for warm weather climbing, but has plenty of room left for layers when ice climbing.

The gear loops seem a bit smaller than what I'm used to, but I've had no trouble racking or removing gear. I was able to carry a double rack of C4s 0.5-4 and a double set of nuts comfortably on the front two gear loops. I like the fact that the gear loops are set back from the front of the harness. Seems to help keep stuff out of the way when climbing. I put my draws and slings on next two loops, and while it was crowded, I didn't have any problems getting them off. Anchor material and personal gear went on the fifth loop, where things got crowded quickly. My only criticism of this harness is the size of the gear loops, I had hoped they would be a smidge bigger. Ice clipper slots work like a charm.

My Sendero has a haul loop in the back, right below the fifth gear loop. Maybe they updated it for this year?

All in all it's a pretty good harness. Comfortable, light, and works for what I do.

“Chalk bag loop”

just got mine and here are my first impression. My old harness is a BD Solution, so initial impression are mostly based on my experience with the Solution. I also had 2 Petzl harnesses before the Solution, but can't say I really remember them enough to comment.

- I have a 32" waist so went with the medium (29"-35"). Sizing is pretty good.

- I hung in it for about 7min and confort was OK, close to the Solution.

- As others mentionned above, the tie-in point are small, definitively smaller than on the Solution.

- Though the front loop is larger than the one on the Solution by about 1/2"max, I was expecting it to be a bit larger. As a test I did manage to fit a full rack from BD .1 to 4 and a set of nuts on a single side. While it was cramped, to me this is plenty of space for the rack I usually carry. The 2nd gear loops are sligthly smaller than the loops on my solution by roughly 1/4". Obviously the addition of the rear loop more then compenste for the smaller 2nd gear loops.

- The position of the gear loop is the biggest change for me and will need some getting used to.  While the front gear loop is back by about 1" from the Solution, the 2nd gear loop is waaaay back.  That is partially due to the longer front gear loop, but also the presence of the slot for the ice screw holder. While it is probably only about 2" back, it feels more than that.

- 1 Thing I really don't like is the the positionning of the loop to secure the tail of the waist belt when the harness is cinched down. For some reason Elderid decided to position the loops on the bottom half of the belt, which means the tail is sitting just above the gear loops. So it's quite easy to snag the tail when clipping thing to the gear loops. This would have been easilly fixed by moving the keeper loop on the upper half of the belt. The keeper loops are also incredibly small, so getting the tail in requires some work.

that's it for my first impressions. I'll try to update once I have a couple of pitches in.

Update

Recently had the chance to test the harness a couple time both indoor and outdoor and I finally decided I wouldn't be keeping it for the following reasons:

- Confort just isn't as good as the solution. While the waist belt is fine, I really don't like the feel of the leg loops.

- I hate having to manage the tail end of the waist belt. I know it's ridiculous, but I get frustrated with it everytime.

- I was really looking for more of a trad/multipitch harness over my Solution, and this just isn't it. Yes there is added capacity with the 5th gear loop, but I find I would rather have two larger front loops.

I will probably look at the Arcteryx C-quence next, though a buddy of mine just got the Ocun Webee quatro, and I wonder if I shouldn't consider something similar. While it would be overkill as I don't do big wall, it could be a more confortable option for the longer multipitch and I would still have my Solution for any single pitch trad.

I want to double what was said above.
Here are my main complaints:
- gear loops a small and do not protrude enough
- rear loops are moved back too much, so you have to turn your head way too back to see what's there
- belt end overlaps with rear gear loop. Holes fixing tail end are too small to be operated conveniently

Small gear loops are a real curse - they do not protrude enough, therefore it's difficult to place gear on rear loops blindly, clothes get in the way often and sometimes are jammed by carabiner gate. This happened in the summertime when I was wearing T-shirt only, but in the winter with some puffy underneath things would get even worse.
I was disappointed cause I bought the harness to use it throughout the year when I need caritools.

All in all it seems like another Edelrid product which was not properly field-tested prior to market release.

I bought it for the 5 loops and ice clipper slots. It's very light for a fully featured harness.

I also didn't like where the gear loops and slots sat (pretty far back) so I returned it. I have a 33in waist and tried a Medium. Wondering if getting a Large and cinching all the way down might bring the loops further forward. They have a pretty big range, down to 31.5in for Large, 29.5in for Medium.

I suspect they'd be more asymmetrical at the end of the range though which also bothers me. 4 buckle harnesses are nice for that.

Ultimately I just DIY'd extra gear loops on the harnesses I have and like. I try not to put anything mission critical on my jerry rigged rear loops, but they're nice to debulk the main loops.

That Edelrid sure is light if it works for you though.

I have the version of this harness with the non-adjustable leg loops, the gear loops are small and they're too far back, the front gear loops are for some reason smaller than the back loops which is very annoying for how I rack but I can still manage a double rack but are unfortunately the old petzl design of the outer fabric sheath and plastic stiffener inside this i think has always been a big failure point for Petzl harnesses I have seen so I'm not expecting to have this for long, the ice clipper slots are unfortunately too small to take petzl's evo clippers properly. The rear 5th loop which I would have hoped would have been an improvement to my homemade 5th loop on my old bd it is unfortunately in a shit placement on the harness too low and actually underneath the back loops, considering cutting it off and sewing on my old 5 gear loop. It's very comfy for what it is this is partially down to a slightly weird cut of the harness, it's got a really low rise that felt very strange at first but turn out far more comfortable than any bd harness I have tried, this might be something to do with the generally smaller euro build that I definitely fit into.

IDK if I'd be super happy paying much for this harness to be honest, there are so many just mind numbingly stupid decisions with the gear loops it's really hard to justify, I'm happy I got trade price for it. It's strange having such apathy for this harness, usually I'm excited about a new purchase but this one just makes me a little sad and I'm still sad when I look at it 4 months later.

It should be noted a lot of these issues should be addressed in the next version apparently, so if you need a new harness soon but not immediately it could be worth waiting for the next version to come out.

I had one and returned it after 3 months.

Gear loops were a concern for me, wasn't very durable. I question how long it would have lasted.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
