NEW Cochise Stronghold: Select Edition Guidebook
|
The East and West Guidebooks are almost sold out! It was time to meet the needs of people who love the Stronghold but requested an abbreviated book. Here it is! |

Have your other guides. I guess this is something but I always want a more involved guidebook :) Not abridged but thanks for all you have done. Cheers Tanya! |

When I started the project I realized that I would have to try and climb all the routes that I had information for and repeat the ones I had already done to try and represent EVERYTHING I possibly could. There will always be more routes put up and people always come out of the woodwork to tell you you missed a climb-or perhaps some routes are better left not found. As I recorded the routes it seemed rediculous to skip things I knew were there and I was always hoping to find more gems that had been forgotten over the years. The Complete Guides represent everything that I could possibly get info on and some we just saw and went for. I climbed over 90% of them and I rediscover a bunch I had put up. I got shot down on lots and others made me challenge myself in ways I didn't know possible. Writing the book was a journey that I am so honored that I got to take with the people who supported me along the way. On one of the very first long weekends, I climbed Wind Madness in an hour and a half knowing I had to get to the top of Chay Desa Tsay before Raines and Julie got to the 3rd pitch of The Sound of One Hand Thrashing so I could shoot their picture (actually single line rapping down the north face of Chay for 200' and then jugging up bouncing on a manky cam anchor and seeing the rope grind on the granite was petrifying). The next day I climbed Cap'm Pissgums and the next Abracadaver. Back in Tucson I spewed out of the truck with beer cans and stink ready for work on Monday. I have no idea what madness possessed me over those years. As most people want to experience the Stronghold but don't love every inch of it like we do I had to create an abridged version. I tried to leave in the best parts so they can get a taste for what makes the place so special. |

I hope you don’t think I was saying anything negative. I really do appreciate your guidebooks. Thanks for everything you have done. I meant abridged was not what I wanted. Bad joke I guess. Thanks Tanya. I carry yours and Geirs book every time I go out. Keep up the good work |

Bump for beautiful, updated pictures. Start planning your fall climbing season now. |

Another vote for a combined edition. Basically the Eastside and Westside books combined into one (optionally hardcover) volume (plus any updates since 1st edition). |
