planning a trip here, I have an awesome crag dog.. no barking or random roaming, just sits with his owners...  Whats the deal with dogs there? seeing some no dog rules, any areas accept it?

Your crag dog is only awesome to you.  To everyone else its a nuisance.

Muir Valley— no dogs ( that includes not leaving them in the parking lot/car, not even on a cold/cloudy day)

Other places you can bring your dog.

Don't worry, your crag dog is also awesome to me.

If roadside happens to be open by that point, you can’t take your dog there either

OP,

Dogs are welcome at all of the Forest Service and RRGCC properties.

Please bring a leash.  Dogs must be under complete control of their owners at all times.  For even the most well trained and behaved dogs, that typically means leashed at the crag and while moving between areas.

And if your dog is as well behaved as you claim, it wouldn't be a nuisance to me either.

Enjoy the Red!

Be prepared for a lot of other dogs that are not as well behaved as your dog. Every trip I've taken there I brought my dog with because many of the areas are so dog friendly and he's very well behaved. But the biggest issue ended up being other peoples dogs who were kind of mean or a little too rowdy to be off leash at a crag. My tip would be to go somewhere in the Northern Gorge that doesn't see much action if you want to avoid those shenanigans and all the crowds.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
