Hey guys, I've been climbing for about 2 years now and tried a lot of model of shoes. The only one I feel like really feels great for me in terms of toe/heel hooking is the Mad Rock Shark 2.0. Unfortunately, the pair I have could definitely be downsized to a 8 from a 8.5 to improve performance/sensitivity as I find the toe box comfortable but lacking in performance compared to lets say the Skwama when it comes to both sensitivity and edging. So, is there a shoe that I should try like the Drone or Haywire that would have a comparable heel/toe hooking ability, or should I just downsize the Shark and stick to what I know? Also, anyone really familiar with madrock sizing. If I think 8 is ideal shark size for me I'm interested in how Drone/Haywire compare if you have experience in sizing them.
I went through 2 pairs of sharks before switching to the drone. The size didn’t change but the feel did. I think the drones have a more sensitive feel to them and the hooks stuck better. It’s hard to describe the feel, but I am happier with the drones. I have heard that the drones are narrower than the sharks, so maybe the 8.5 in drones get you what you’re looking for without downsizing and destroying the toes. Good luck
