Check out these crack gloves I made. They cost about a buck in materials for the pair, feel really bomber in my hand, and are only about 2.4mm thick.

Give us a report on their durability after they've got a bit of use.

Can you share the source for that 1mm climbing rubber you used?

Maybe skip adding the Velcro and do a single wrap of tape around the wrist.  Slimmer and the the Velcro on gloves is the worst feature.  Also where do I PayPal the 10 bucks to get these?

Dude I was thinking the same thing! But sure would be nice to take tape entirely out of the equation. But yeah definitely something to think about!

Cool and all, but I'll shell out $30 (I only buy on sale) for OR and Ocun.
I don't see the nylon providing a secure and tight fit after a bit of use. I predict they'll get sloppy, sweaty, and that doesn't even mention durability.

A for effort though!

I'm in China at the moment and found it on Chinese eBay. We might try and sell kits to DIY your own crack gloves in the future. But I bet you can find it on Amazon or eBay, no?

Scrap of tire inner tube and a little Velcro. Could also tape around the wrist. I’ve been using these for awhile, seem pretty durable.       Edit: they can be a little sweaty but still seem to perform ok.

Nice! Those remind me of the ClimbX version. I think having a second layer that a)can absorb some sweat and b)that stiffens up the rubber and reduces the stretch is key. Ocun and OR use suede I think.

I haven't tested mine out, I'll post back with an update on how the nylon performs.

That is awesome. I'd be a bit wary of the rolling up factor on thumbs up thin hands, etc.,  but i bet you can perfect those things. Bit off topic, but does anyone have any experience with the warranty process for the OR gloves? I've heard, but have not seen concrete proof, that you can get a warranty replacement for your OR gloves. It seems a bit too good to be true, though. Anyone??

Those looks awesome. What's the difference in performance between fake and real suede? Have you thought of adding some thin rubber or is the suede grippy enough?

Really cool. They look like cool driving gloves Ryan Gossling would wear.

This reminds me of John Sherman's tape glove article many years ago.  Does anyone have it?  Best tape glove I'd ever used.

Thank you.

Now tell me about that little plastic camming unit on your desk!

OR did replace my crack gloves 2 or 3 times when they kept failing: both the pads and the strap were delaminating, and the Velcro of the strap loosing its stick and tearing off.  But after that I got tired of the lack of durability and just went with the ocuns.  I do have one pair of the ORs still functional that I sewed all the pads and strap on to.  I’ve seen a pair of new ones and the strap is in fact stitched on, like I had to do with my older ones.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
