Hey Folks,

I was just wondering if anyone had any favorite heel spacers they like or anything similar to that. I've tried various insoles and wasn't super thrilled. I still had heel lift or when I eliminated it...I raised my foot so high in the boot that I could feel the top in the top of my foot. I'm currently rocking scarpa phantom techs (2018 version) and came from la sportive baturas which were amazing but I developed a Taylors bunion on my bigger foot on the side. I'm hoping to limp along in these boots until getting a new pair of sportivas next year.

Thank you greatly for any advice.

Get a pair of plain ole adjustable orthopedic heel lift you can set the amount of lift needed. I use one in my ski boots.

here is what I and friends use.  I've got wide feet and narrow dainty heels.  They've got different thicknesses and sizes.

These work well in my mountaineering boots.  They also prevent blisters which is a nice perk.  Take a while to get wet, if doing an overnight trip take them off at night or you'll start getting trench foot because of your feet not drying properly.

Your boot is probably sized too large. I think if you have to add a high arch insole to prevent heal rise your boot is probably too big.

Boot fitting foam. If DIY expect a bit of trial and error. https://www.tognar.com/ski-boot-fitting/

Size wise I'm right on point. The heel on scarpa is just very loose compared to la Sportiva...or at least for my foot. I really think a fatter ankle would fix the trick. I appreciate the advice though man!

The only thing I’d say is that if you add a heal riser and don’t need it because of high a high arch it could cause a bit of discomfort.

I had a pair of Nepal Evos that I added a high arch insert (green superfeet) to fix a heal rise problem and it for long approaches it became very uncomfortable.
Just my 2 cents

I couldn't agree more man. I added heel riser with a thicker insole last season and it just made my feet scream at the end of the day...shit not even at the end. I'm going to avoid the heel riser and go with adding some foam to the inside of the boot and see if that helps. I have high hopes of it keeping that heel down just by taking up space so I can actually get the boot tight enough. I appreciate the help man!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
