PSA - Gear Organizer

Just a PSA about some useful gear.  I took a chance and ordered this item from Aliexpress.com.  I honestly  thought it might be average to a piece of junk at best.... but this  organizer is very impressive and made extremely  well from tough durable  waterproof  material....the mesh and zippers are top quality. It holds and organizes all of my biners and quickdrwas and much more. All for $18.00 US. Wish they made ice screw holders like this.   For those people who like to sort and organize their gear before or after a trip... this helps a lot. You can find it at Aliexpress.com and enter  "Mountaineering Accessories Portable Storage Bags Rope Outdoor Climbing Carabiners Tools Bag Wearproof Large Capacity Waterproof" Made by Xinda

Or, you could just clip your gear to a runner and hang it or store it in a bag/bin like most people.

So, honest question:
WHY do you need this? If you are going sport climbing, all you need is a rack of draws and a belay device. Why add an extra weight/bulk of an “organizer”? Just clip all your draws into the carabiner of one draw, and you got a neat bundle.

What are those random locking biners for? And those itty-bitty quickdraws may be cute, and stylish colors, but that’s not a whole lot of them...doesn’t look like that little organizer would fit 16-18 draws...

If you're OCD or anal retentive?
I once saw a guy in the Gunks pull 4 Tupperware containers out of his pack at the base of Arrow and proceeded to rack up. Each container had a certain type of gear. It took him about 30 minutes to go through the entire ritual.

Wow, lighten up folks!

Sounds as if some of y'all need a dose of some kind of happiness, so happy new year to all.

I'm stuck in the house with the flu. Tomorrow is the start of a storm cycle that will leave about 3' in the northern Wasatch atop the 15" from the weekend. I deserve to be cranky right now!

Have seen this.

Wow dude... you remind me of a guy I encountered on a crag 12 years ago.... he was a self-serving  narcissistic ass just like you....I lost touch with him a number of years ago.... but once in a while, I used to think that what happened  to him wasn't realy fair, even for an ass like him.  Of course I had my moments when I just figured he got what he deserved,  but today,  12 years later,  I don't really care because I know that it's one less POS on the climb,  putting others at risk that I need to concern myself with... Recently, I heard that he died 18 months ago in his wheel chair from complications originating from the fall that compounded the injuries over the years.. kinda sad really...I never really knew his side of the story because he was never able to talk again...or much less do  anything else including feeding himself or wiping his own ass.  It was never really  clear if the sling was intentionally girth hitched to a badly damaged anchor or they just decided  not to speak up about the risk because they just didn't want to hear his shit anymore...but after reading  your post, I guess your right...it is The Mountain  Project Way...

Ummmmm.....settle down. Reread Pat's post and the one just above his. Notice the quote marks in Pat's post. He was making a comment about the typical Mountain Project way -

1. post a question or suggestion
2. get ragged on by MP posters
3. observe that's "the Mountain Project way"

I think you owe him an apology.

I don’t think an apology is enough. I think he should send this wonderful organizer to offendee to make this right.

At the moment, I'm checking to see if I care about "what you think"....still checking....nope sorry dude....didn't come up with anything.... The OP was about a useful piece of gear... Nothing more.... So if that offends you than enjoy you near year being offended....

Dude the post you are upset about is defending you. The stuff he said is satirizing the way people normally react to posts about gear organizers.

You're totally missing what's being said. Pat didn't say "What kind of human garbage pile likes pouches" - that was hyperbole in the third person, reflecting the typical MP comment; it wasn't/isn't his opinion - he was mimicking a hypothetical MP poster. That's what all the quote marks in his post mean.

Suggest you quit being offended and actually read and understand the posts.

I think you are mad at the wrong person. They were actually mocking my post, not yours.

Yup if I climbed once a month I'd probably organize my gear neatly too.

Just to clear up a few things....

1st: You're comments are in quotations but there is no indication of who you're quoting so I can only assume you're being an ass.

2d:  As a 20 year experienced big open water kayaker and ice climber... I've seen just about every high risk situation in which people who work together survive and for those who don't... It usually ends poorly for them... I've seen people severely injured just because they were arrogant asses...

3rd: It doesn't matter to me if you like the thing or not...just passing the info in case someone might like to know about the thing... Like others have commented... I've seen my share of people who show up to a high risk paddle or climb trying to be organized, but they simply took too damn long to get on the water or get climbing.  I found the this piece of gear to be very fast by the grabbing the grab loop, pull it out of the bag,  lay it out and load my harness and gear loop sling based on the ice conditions that day...ice climbing is not like rock...just because the ice route is in today, doesn't mean it will be the same the next day... Instead of carrying all my gear on a sling and then unloading the pieces I don't need on that climb that day...it takes exactly 2 minutes to pull the organizer out of the bag, lay it out, pick the gear I need for the climb based in the ice conditions for that day and load my harness and gear loop...easy and efficient... not for everyone...

So what you’re saying is that this pouch organizer is essential piece of gear that saves lives and anyone who thinks otherwise is POS?

Holy Hell....Marc801 c and especially Pat Light.... It's official... I'm the dumbass... You have most sincere public apologies.... Not to excuse my stupid rants, but multi tasking and thinking about the people I've a little too recently, seen hurt in high risk situations clearly preventing me from reading this thread and your comments correctly...wtf.... Sincerely apologise to you two....

Not at all... This thing helps me Very quickly keep track of my ice climbing gear and load my harness and gear loop sling based on the ice conditions of the day in less than 2 minutes... Just wish it held my ice screws.

Not a matter of need... Rather convinence.... I could rack everything on a sling, leave it on a harness or just throw it in the bag...but if all the gear is clipped on a draw... and I'm not going to use specific gear on that ice climb that day... Then I have to sort the draw to pull off what I don't need for that route...I may show up on the same route on one day, but the next day the ice may be totally different... The draws are for half ropes ( not double not twin, but half) which is ideal for ice/ alpine... Most of random biners are to build apline draws and or anchors to belay a second at multi pitch.

Waterfall ice...that means half ropes and screws... No bolts
