MCL sprain or Meniscus tear? Please tell me your experience, rehab, thoughts.

Early September I felt my knees give way, twinges all around down to my ankle, behind my knees. Was walking fine with a limp, able to straighten my knees, no swelling (perhaps a little on my left knee). Most of the pain were on my medial side.  Went to see the OS who recommended to get an MRI. Results showed mild MCL sprain on right knee, mild/moderate MCL sprain on left (worse knee). I'm doing PT once a week. Felt great after 3-4 weeks, then started feeling the pain especially on my left knee mid October and now the twinges are travelling through my lateral side of the knee. Now, I feel twinges and tingling feeling, stiffness, locking feeling on the left knee esp at night. Sometimes the sharp pain I feel are on the meniscus part. Unable to sleep well.
I'm going on 3 months of PT and feeling the twinges. My right knee is healing ok, but my left is worrying me a bit.
Perhaps another MRI on my LK?  What are your experiences with MCL sprain, recovery time?

Anybody felt the same pain I'm going through on the lateral side or meniscus tear feeling? Or do I just need time to heal?

Thank you all

Depending on your activity level/type and severity of the injury, I have experienced longer healing periods than 3 months.  Try to avoid jarring or twisting activities... running, golf, etc.  Riding a bike is great, as it will strengthen your legs in order to alleviate stress on the joints and will not have any injurious movement.  Climb on rope to avoid falling and impacting the knees for a while.
Also, keep in mind that inflamation can produce excess pain so, watch your diet and alcohol intake(almost impossible due to the deliciousness of beer).
Good luck!

Second the suggestion for riding a bike to build up some strength without bothering the injury any more.

Is it normal to feel pain on the lateral side like it is a meniscus pain?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
