Headed down for three weeks in Jan/Feb, hoping to go to potrero but spend most of the time in el salto. What's the beta on accommodations, camping, rooms, groceries, restaurants, etc? Also spray me down with your favorite 12- to 13- there!

Dona kika’s back yard or rock camp are the two best options. Not really much in terms of groceries. You can get some chips and candy and such at kikas so I would stop at HEB and stock up first. Don’t remember there being much restaurants but there are a couple of them. Hijo de puta and cula de negra were two of the best routes I’ve ever been on.

Alien Tufa. You can't really go wrong with anything at Las Animas. Tecelote and LA Boca are great too. There are some house rentals through various locals including Dona Kika, otherwise camping is as Chris suggested at Kikas or Rock Camp. One can also van life in the wash on the way into the canyon, but break ins can and do happen from time to time if you leave your car there.

my gf and I will be in el salto early feb as well, great time of year to be there! my two cents after several trips there: dona kikas is a great place to meet other climbers if you are rolling solo, but, el salto is way more fun if you get a group together and rent a house for your stay. track down mark grundon or chuy. kikas is right on the road and is super noisy. too many good 12s to count. it really helps to have a car. there are good grocery stores in santiago down the hill but not much up in cienaga de gonzalez (town) also if you have a good car with clearance check out cueva de cumbia, it is amazing too and not that far away but the road can be a mess. time your rest days for weekends and get the heck out of there unless you think partying with the Monterrey locals who come up to blast mariachi music from their atvs and dirt bikes as they tear around the aroyos sounds fun.

It’s not 5.12, but Culo de Merlin is the best 10a you’ll ever do.
I recommend against this, but we went to the first set of cabins we saw and were able to get one for the night. Then the owner set us up with a local who had an unused house they cleaned out for us. It was a bit chaotic but the locals were quite helpful in this regard to us. It’s one of the quietest places during the week, so stock up before driving up there imo.
Brush up on your Spanish.

Anyone have beta for staying at kika's campground? i.e. cost, amenities, and access?

Cost is ~50 pesos, there's a bathroom, cold crappy showers, and a outdoor community kitchen with a stove, and limited cookware. Places to set up a tent or van camp. You can pay for a shower at rock camp. Anything else you need to know?
