I saw the short, stocky thread, but sheesh, that guy has 6" on me.
Any brands with sizing that remotely allows for the ownership of both a butt and a waist, that isn't then long enough to invite company in for a visit? If it's active wear, especially with zips, Velcro, etc on pant legs....sheeeeeit. It's hopeless, as far as I can tell. I'm going to Bozeman in December, yes it's vain, but it truly would be nice to not look, well, completely awful, but looking anything better than one of the seven dwarves in advanced dotage would be a big plus.
Thanks! Helen

I don’t know what Bozeman in December is actually like but my guess is that you already have snow pants from Boise winters that would work.

Sorta. I'm not a skier at all, so I'm either rock climbing, bouldering, or hibernating in the winter. Except for a few snowmageddons recently, we typically don't have much snow here in town. My 'snowpants' are from several years ago, for my first, and so far, only, pitch of ice climbing. Not exactly a great fit, even then, and I've lost weight. Old ugly crap with holes in it is perfect for bouldering with my homies when it's 40 degrees, not so great for three or four days of true ice climbing when it could be single digits.
A couple of thoughts for you. On your way to bozeman, (if you are driving...) drop past the Patagonia outlet store in Dillon Mt. They may have something that will fit. Thought two. Wait until the Ice Fest in Bozeman and Demo a pair of climbing shell pants. don't worry if they are a bit long. Get a pair of OR crocodiles gaiters. Roll to length and use that gaiters to keep any excess material out of the way of the crampons. We will have the following sponsors with soft good to demo. (remember demos are free with the purchase of your clinic) just drop by the evening before your clinic, earlier the better to give you time to try stuff on.
