Anyone try an E-Z Out screw extractor for sleeves?

I am curious if anyone has tried an E-Z Out or similar screw extractor for pulling the sleeve from a 5 piece out?  Something like this: https://www.mcmaster.com/2563a15

thanks!

Or maybe something like this:  https://www.mcmaster.com/8289a36. that advertises that it won't expand the pipe? My thought is that it might be a little more robust than a tap, and that you could use a normal drill to engage it, then pull it out by hand after it has broken free of the rock...?

Yes this is standard protocol although I’ve had better luck using a regular tap then attaching either an extractor or bolt, hanger and nut and using some sort of Funkness.

The EZ Outs are meant for unscrewing not pulling. The sleeves are not screwed into anything.
The tap and pull method is not that great. I was thinking about trying to make my own puller similar to this one.

Yes, I would obviously like to get away from taps too!  I like the idea of the expanding fork shown in the photo, I'd like to explore that possibility as well.

I've tried ez outs on light interference fit dowels before (similar to a well rusted sleeve) and had terrible results. Can't see them working out. I'd like a faster method also, currently running a tap in is the most time consuming part of replacing sleeves for me.

I like that concept of the pronged puller, who made it?

How does that central pin get out of the prong after you pull the sleeve out with it?

It's a photo of an injector sleeve puller, I pulled off the web.
I don't think it'll even need a pin as long as the fork is springy enough.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.

Fixed Hardware: Bolts & Anchors
