Gear shops around Reno?

I’m coming through town this week and need to pick up a few pieces of gear, mainly looking for totems or alien offsets.  Are there any shops around Reno or taho with these brands or a good selection?

New climbing shop in Reno.   Nevada Adventure rentals In Reno has Alien offsets.   https://nevadaadventurerentals.com/  he has a really good selection of climbing gear.  Barry is the owner he is an ex AMGA guide and a nice guy.   They also have gear that you can rent as well.  They are right off the freeway on Mill str.

If you will be in Sacramento during your travels check out Bobcat Outdoors. Greg has a great selection of gear and clothing.

Putting in a plug for GearHut. They do used/consignment, have an impressively large selection and the owner Rusty is SUPER nice. I try to make it into the store every time I'm in Reno (2x/yr) and I've never NOT found something I absolutely had to have.

I tried to drop by a couple weeks ago and they were closed temporarily due to a newborn baby. May want to call in and check if they're back open.

How did I not know this existed? Is it new?

Not sure when he opened, but most people know Bobcat's from the gear discounts he gives to Mountain Ascent Association members.

Alright guys, I’m back with some quick gear shop reviews.

Gearhut is closed mondays and Tuesday’s so I wasn’t able to make it there.

Nevada Adventure Rentals is awesome and Barry is a super nice guy!  They didn’t have any aliens, but he still had a solid selection of nuts and cams.  I at least bought some local books from him to give him business.

Tahoe Sports Hub had a pretty weak selection, more or less an “oh shit, last minute” stop

  1. Pretty sure I saw a full set of off set Aliens in his shop last week. I can check tomorrow if need be.

No worries Lon, I was just over there earlier today.  You make be thinking of the dmm’s.  Barry was super awesome and had a good selection, just wasn’t exactly what I was looking for this time around.  I’ll keep his shop in mind in the future though!  Definitely a good stop through shop.

John, if you head down towards the Eastside at all, Mammoth mountaineering in Bishop has a large selection of all kinds cams, nuts, pitons, etc. There is also the consignment shop in Bishop that can have some good finds. Good luck!
