What you are asking for is illegal , maybe show up to the valley and meet some partners. They charge pirate guides to the fullest extent of the law here. Sucks but Aramark has a monopoly |

There's a monopoly on guiding in the park. Only one place has the permit, their prices are listed above. Like others are alluding; you need to ask for an experienced 'partner' or 'mentor'. The message board in Camp 4 is probably your best bet. Maybe go on YouTube and watch some SuperTopo videos so you know what you're getting into(and practice it lots). |

Sucks but Aramark has a monopoly Well that's a horse of a different color. I certainly do not want to do something illegal. So you're saying that if somebody wants to climb with me and share their big wall knowledge, I cannot compensate them for their time in terms of money? This seems odd to me. Can I buy them a beer for their time? Or dinner? Is that illegal too? Also, is their a handy link to the illegal nature of this? Thanks... I suppose I can offer to pay a premium price for the right person's carabiner. Is that legal? |

It's not like rangers are hiding in the bushes waiting for someone to mention 'guiding'. Just don't call it that, there's no law against asking for 'experienced partners'. You'll be fine, just show up to Camp 4. Talk to the people in your site, ask them if they know anyone looking for a partner. Put a note on the message board too, if you're lucky, someone might even approach you. |

With your current post as "evidence" even having a monkey work with you on the wall and receiving a "donation," should nps wish to prosecute your monkey guide, they would have a case. |
