Dispersed Camping (or any camping, really) near Guanella Pass

Hi all,

Some friends and I are looking to camp this upcoming weekend near Guanella pass. My understanding is that dispersed camping along the pass is now prohibited and restricted only to campsites. I've checked recreation.gov for campsite availablility but it seems that either the website isn't correct or literally every single campsite at every campground anywhere near Guanella is booked.

Anyone have any beta regarding camping near the pass, or are we just SOL?

Thanks

285 side, drive past Geneva Campground, dispersed camping along the road to the trailhead.  It aint pretty and you'll be close to RV's and UTV's, but it works.  Try to get there early for best sites, and careful not to burn the place down (current fire ban in Park County).

From the George Town side take a right hand turn off Guanella pass road and head up toward Argentine pass (the first couple hundred yards are rocky and require high clearance), after that it's a gravel road all the way up to the old mine site. Tons of camping along that road.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
