Dog sitters around Yosemite, Tuolumne, or Bishop?
|
I’ll be heading out to Yosemite, Tuolumne, and Bishop in a couple of weeks with my dog in tow and would really like to jump on some full day routes in the area. Are there any local pet sitters in the area that can pet sit during the day? I imagine there has to be a good amount of people in a similar situation. Any leads are greatly appreciated! Or any local climbers that want to take him for a day, I’ll definitely throw some cash your way! |

National parks are not the best places for dogs. Dogs are not allowed on trails or in the backcountry. |

I’m completely aware of this, as to why I’m spending most of my time out of Yosemite and in the meadows, and also why I’m looking for a pet sitter for the long days. Dogs are allowed in Yosemite but the access is extremely limited. |

Though I've never used Buck myself, I had a friend HIGHLY recommend him to me. (It didn't work because I had 1 large and 1 small dog, and he only takes bigger breeds.) I was thoroughly impressed with his reviews though. *Mammoth |

I boarded my golden with Bishop Veterinary Hospital back in March, and they were great. I’m not sure if they do a day care, but they are very reasonably priced for boarding. |

My vet, who does a great job as a vet, also offers boarding. But they put the dogs in cages and leave there. all day. They take them outside a couple/few times a day to go to the bathroom. but that's it. So I won't use them for overnight stays. The kennel I use puts my medium and larger dogs in a "run" so they have room to walk around. Then, they take the dogs into a larger yard five times a day.My point is, if you don't like the idea of your dog being caged and ignored all day, a vet isn't necessarily the best place for boarding. Maybe it's different at Bishop Veterinary? |

Thanks for the heads up Frank! Unfortunately my older pup doesn’t respond too well to being caged in foreign places without me around, so I’ll probably need to go another direction. |

There’s a handful of dog boarding in bishop...you could ask Jeeves. |
