I just put $950 into tuning the engine, changing fluids, replacing the master brake cylinder, and getting it checked over for reliability. Everything mechanical is working great and it only has 63,356 miles on it. It runs really well. The old style odometer resets at 100k, but the condition of the engine matches the low mileage according to the mechanics. The previous owner reported it was sitting on someone's farm, rarely used, and he acquired it at an estate sale. For this reason, I do believe the 63,356 is accurate.
My plan was to build this into a class B RV/camper van, but a recent job change is requiring me to move. Unfortunately, I don't have time to finish it before I have to go. My next steps were to get a body shop to cover the open panels on the shell ($850), add a frame, then insulate it, and add wood paneling/flooring. This will be a really great camper van for someone that's willing to put in the work.
Reasons I chose this van... -Low mileage and reliable -High ceiling (6+ ft) -Sleeping area above the front cabin. Saves the back of the van for storage rather than bedding. -Swivel seats (I have the 2nd seat, but its not pictured) -Ford E350 parts are easy to come by and less expensive to repair -Tires have a lot of tread remaining
Things that still need to be repaired... -Blinkers -Squeaky belt on startup (goes away after 3-5 seconds and doesn't affect anything) -Side panels welded/sealed (received a quote for $850 from a body shop) -The gauge on the 2nd fuel tank isn't accurage (the 1st fuel tank is good)
I'm happy to work out a shipping method if you'd like it delivered. Just send me a message.
