I'm a pale and somewhat tubby American male, with a haunting lineage of northern Europe and Scandinavia. I run hot but burn easily. My pale skin covered in stupid tattoos, I'm interested in covering the lot of it with a sun shirt, when I abscond from the safety of temperate rainforest. I'm interested in opinions on the topic: anyone have any experience with the Bight Solstice hoody? Big differences between the Patagonia Capilene Hoody and the Tropic Comfort? I am rarely comfortable whether sunned or shaded, though I might like to fend off skin cancer as I roil and waddle my way through the tin pan alleys of my mind.

Thanks very much for your thoughts. Sun shirts and otherwise.

Better in the Climbing Gear Discussion forum where there was a great long discussion on this a week or so ago:

I climb in long sleeved Coolibar sun shirts all summer.  They are lightweight and sun protective.  Further they seem to stand up to climbing very well.  I have at least three of them that are more than 5 years old.

Love my Patagonia Hoody. I have the older version of this.

I think the Echo is only UPF 15 - the Rab Pulse is pretty much the same weight/material and should be 30-35+ UPF (based on their interval layer ratings, which use the same fabric)

Only bad thing I read about the Echo, otherwise sounds like a solid option and can be found on sale or ebay for cheap.

Just got BD's sunshirt. Love it. interested to see how it holds up on sandstone, but have to say the wicking of sweat is no joke.
