Like the title says. Been doing this for about a year, just curious about how people usually find a belay partner. Kind of bored of top roping routes by myself.

Where do you live? Most people will tell you to go ask people at the gym. I luckily have not had to do that as most of my friends also are my climbing friends. (In this case the friends came before the climbing) But yeah ask at a gym or just ask people at the crag after talking with them for awhile. "Yeah I am always looking for other partners if you are down I could grab your number"

Perhaps posting in the forum called "Partners" under your region would work for you?

Partner Forums, setting your profile up for the partner finder on MP helps too, if you're on facebook and have a specific area you want to climb find a Partners group for that or even a carpool group. Otherwise like Noah mentioned make friends at the gym, particularly those that want to learn or bonus points if they're already established skills outside, but more importantly before you leave the ground (or even leave for the crag) make sure they have an understanding of the workflow, communicate what you will be doing and what to expect to be safe, for yourself and themselves. Do not put 100% faith into your new partner, be skeptical and inspect each others gear and setups.
On top of that being a good person takes the belaytionship even further.
I've made plenty of connections through FB groups, MP and mutual friends. Some were just one day trips, others have been out multiple times and some have become good friends outside of climbing, so you never know where it can go.

Personally I start with a friendly "Hi!" when making a friend.

Go to the "for sale/WTB" section, and offer someone roughly $50-100 /hr for them to belay you. Boom instant partner. Otherwise just go to the gym/crag and walk up to strangers and strike up a conversation, if you get along maybe see if they're interested in climbing with yah for more than just that day. Mountain project also works well, but I've found that it is more effective as a way to get a single day partner than it is for a season or longer.

Make sure you offer milk and cookies and you'll have a line.
Srsly - Austin has a very active FB group you should check out.

Step 1: Hang out at the gym Step 2: Know how to safely belay Step 3: Be friendly Step 4: Don't overstate your abilities Step 5: (After you meet someone and make plans to go climbing) Don't be a flake. Show up on time. Bring your own food and water. Leave the boombox and the dog at home. Repeat.
