My wife and I need some camping ideas for the Pagosa Springs area.  We are moving there with our family of 4 later in the summer.  Headed out with all of our stuff over the 4th of July week and looking for some low key/easy access stuff.  Thanks.

Head up Piedra Road (county road 600) towards Piedra Canyon.
About 6 miles up the road it crosses a cattle guard and turns to dirt. 100 yards past that cattle guard on your left is Turkey Springs Road (FS 629?) / county road 146. Tons of camping there. All free. For a campground drive up past the canyon and Sportmans Lodge and multiple pay to play FS campgrounds are available up to Williams Res. Have a great time and welcome to the best of Colorado.

If you camp on Turkey Springs and see someone walking a small heeler mix dog early in the morning say hello. Chances are its me. I live up there.

Thanks for the info!  We are moving to the Holiday Acres area south of town, but don’t close till the middle of July.  But, the first week is the only week I can take off.

We will be the tired looking people with a giant Uhaul with NH plates.  Haha.  Seems like there is some decent climbing in the area.  Hopefully we can share a beer at the crag sometime.  Thanks again.
