Moving to Colorado in the next month late June/early July. Looking for any beta on living around Golden that the locals might have.

1. looking for possible roommates
2. looking for info on which apartments/condos to check out
3. looking for info on which apartments/condos to avoid

Thanks much!

Here is one related thread from 2016. You can probably find several more old threads on this topic with plenty of general information. Do you have any specific questions?

EDIT: Best of luck in your search. I don't have any helpful answers to your specific questions.

My beta: don't live near Coors...unless you like the smell of what I can only describe as animal feed, burning rubber and ass.

No info on apartments so can't help ya there...other than the above.

Great beta. I will make sure to avoid the burning rubber/ass smell of Coors.

Golden is really nice and hence it maybe hard to find a place to live.  I'm on the West side of the metro area in a small city called Wheatridge...Close to the city and close to the mountains and not Golden

Just my two cents and yes I dunno Coors brewing schedule but the town does have odors...

If you're set on Golden then go for it. I'm a CO native and worked in Golden for many years and I personally don't understand the appeal. If you want to venture out from that area I'd look in Denver, Wheat Ridge, and Lakewood. You'd have great access to multiple climbing gyms (not possible in Golden), easy access to places like downtown (work), and easy access to big roads to get to the mountains. There are apartment complexes going up all over that would be close to bars, restaurants, breweries, etc. if you're into that type of thing.

Check out Summit View apartments in golden, 1200-1400 something range for 1-2 bedroom, they go fast but you might be able to figure out a roommate situation with them.

Please elaborate. I’m intrigued by your thoughts on this.

Gulp. That's my base mortgage for 2460 sq ft, 3bd, 2ba, 1640 sq ft unfinished basement, 3 car garage, 0.47 acre here in the suburbs of SLC.

If I was raising a family I think Golden would be great. If I still did a lot of mountain biking and trail running I think it would be great.

But....Golden is expensive. It's not close to my work (downtown). It's not convenient if I were to change jobs because I would most likely be working in the Denver area. More than that, though, I just find it a bit boring. Also, where I'm at now I can still get to clear creek canyon easily. I can be at the nomad cave in about 35 min so proximity to rock isn't really an issue.

That’s legit. I wouldn’t want to commute from Golden to downtown Denver either; agreed that it makes sense to live closer to work. For someone working in/near Golden, living there is great. I did grad school at Mines and loved living in Golden, but part of the appeal was that everything was close together and I never had to drive anywhere. If I had to commute into Denver every day it would have been totally different. Golden is cool, but not worth commuting.

I live in Golden.  Before we bought our house here we lived in an apartment for a few months.  We looked at a bunch and settled on West 8th.  They're quite nice and located very close to downtown.  When we moved here, being in that location was important to help us get to know the area.  We love it here and can't imagine leaving.  The proximity to running, biking, and climbing is really good.  I'm happy to help answer any questions you might have.  Good luck.

Yo I might have a room available in Golden for July if you're still in a pinch. It would be an illegit sublease but my land lord is cool with it.

We have the place and my roommate's lease doesn't end until August.

PM if you want more info!

Not sure what your budget is, but I've got a downstairs apt in a townhome opening up next weekend. Off of heritage road, across from Lookout mountain.  $1200 and you have 600 sq ft of your own space with separate entrance, kitchen is shared. PM if that sounds something like you're looking for.

HA!  I grew up in Milwaukee and now live outside of Seattle.  Every time I go home and drive past the Miller plant and think ... "ah, welcome home!" ha
