I just finished a guidebook that's taken me 5 years to create. It's to an amazing national park in Mexico called "Parque La Huasteca".
It has over 600 routes including a lot of big multi-pitch routes and grades from 5.4 to 5.14+. The rock is bullet hard limestone and has all the features that make your palms sweaty!
Tufas, Pockets, Cracks, Crimps and JUGGGGSSSSS!
The book also includes a scientific study of the parks unique geology, a complete account of it's history, information on the plants and animals and a plethora of outdoor activities and trails such as: Mountain Biking Trail, Hiking Trails, High line rigging points and a Via Ferrata!
The project needs a little boost to get it rolling as it's such a new area that very few people outside Monterrey have ever heard of. If you're planning to head down to Potrero, I highly recommmend check this place out.
One of the main things I find attractive about EPC is the short approaches and close concentration of the routes, and walls to each other. How does Huestaca compare on this?
Also, you say 5.4 to 5.14+ -- but can you give some idea of the route distribution in that range?
David, the approaches in La Huasteca range from the roadside to around 1 hour 30 minutes depending on the wall. The large majority are less than 5 minutes from the car with the exception of La Bestia (huge tufa cave with routes from 5.12 to 5.14+, many open projects), Virgincita (another cave with routes from 5.10 to 5.14+), Pico Independencia (300m+ sport multi-pitch) and Abuelo Fuego (500m sport and mixed routes from 5.10 to 5.12d).
