Source for stitching
|
Does anybody know a source that might be able to do stitching like on the Petzl Connect Adjust? I want a two-armed connect adjust, where both arms are adjustable. I have a connect and a dual connect, so I have the hardware for each arm. I just need a length of rope (easy) and somebody to sew the end terminators and the loop in the middle. I'm not 100% what the kind of stitch is called, even. If I knew that, it'd be easier to google for. Thanks, jg |

Tie a knot? |

So you want a petzl evolv adjust? |

That’s a super specific type of stitcher and I doubt that any of the regular places can handle it. Might try RunnoutCustoms.com because he like to do custom stuff. My guess that you’ll spend at least as much to do a custom job as you would as you would just buying a new Petzl Evolv Adjust. |

The Speedy Stitcher is what you seek. |

Josh Gates wrote: Even better - I wrote Petzl support asking for what is apparently already a product of theirs, but they said: "sorry, we can't make you a custom thing right now, but we'll pass design idea on to our designers in France." Guess that the evolv is quite the secret! |

Whatever needle comes with your awl, you can dull it with some sandpaper if it's a concern. |

I found out about these from cavers. They sold them at REI. I've made foot loops, chest harnesses, and repaired pack buckles with them. |

I believe the stitch you show is called a round stitch. Here's an article with some more context, but if you look up testing of sewed vs. spliced eyes, you should turn up quite a bit more. |

PSA tho: the Evolve Adjust isn't rated the same as the connect/dual connect. I think it's only rated for aid and not as a lanyard. YMMV/YGD etc. |

Richard at Climbing Innovations (an arborist supplier). $15 per sewn termination / sewn eye (so that'd be $45 + return shipping). It's the only place I've ever found who will sew things you didn't buy from them. |
