Index finger doesn't straighten

I have no idea how this happened. No pain. No redness. No bleeding. No soreness. I noticed a few days ago that my index finger doesn't straighten at the middle (PIP) joint. Any ideas on what this might be? I'll be seeing my chiropractor in a few days. Would buddy taping it in the meantime be helpful? Thanks!

It looks like trigger finger.

Yes, I have a bump! Thanks, guys! I have no idea how it happened, though.

Don’t climb for a couple weeks.
Take a good amount of ibuprofen.
Splint it slightly bent if possible.
You won’t need an injection unless it persists for 4-6 weeks.
Good luck.

Do you have Scandinavian heritage? Could be Dupuytren’s.

Might be best to actually see an ACTUAL MD ie an orthopedic physician

Dupuytrens takes years to progress. It doesn’t just appear suddenly.

I second this. Worst thing is to misdiagnose and not be able to climb (or do whatever else people do with their fingers) for years/ever. Probably worth the time/money/inconvenience to get it checked out now, cause it doesn't sound good.

Personally, I only have experience with other figure injuries, so I don't think I can offer any other useful advice.. best ofluck

And in my experience it starts with the pinkie finger.
