Well, the pack I usually use for cragging is starting to fall apart from abrasion etc. Looking to get something new and hoping to get some suggestions. I'm currently using a 35L so around that size would be ideal. Looking for something that is a dedicated cragging pack. Will be used for cragging days as well as longer approaches w/ scrambling.

This pack serves me well, carries comfortably and is almost abrasion-proof:

My latest is a Patagonia cragsmith 32. It's svelte and holds the rack half of the gear pretty well. It likely won't fit rope and a full rack too but has straps on top you could tie a rope on. They have been turning up pretty cheap, so getting one sub-$100 is doable if you are a bit patient. It carries fairly well but doesn't have a full on fat  waist belt. Good minimalist cragging day pack.

I have a BD Creek 50 that replaced a BD Stone Duffel 42 after my dog chewed through the zipper to get to a bar that I hadn't taken out after the first time I used the duffel...it's a good thing she's old and adorable.

I really like the Creek 50 and they also have a Creek 35 that would hit your size target well.  The Crag 40 looks like a cheaper alternative that might not be as durable but is probably lighter and would carry nicer on longer approaches.  I liked the Stone Duffel on the one day that I got to use it but I didn't like it enough to replace it with another.  I have a few friend with the Trango Crag pack that looks pretty good too.  The extra external pockets would be a welcome addition.

I really like my Patagonia Cragsmith 32L pack. It is semi rigid, has gear loops inside and out. The top is flat and holds a rope really well, has two straps to hold it down. There is a larger 45L one as well.

The way it opens is really cool as well, there is a top zipper like every other pack, and then there is a zipper that allows you to open like a suitcase.  Patagonia Cragsmith

Best thing is that it is pretty smooth on the outside so it doesn't get hung up on shit when you have to bushwhack.  I carry a summit pack that I can stuff inside the Cragsmith (OR Dry Summit Pack)

+1 on the Creek packs, very durable, carry well. I also have a BD Stone 45 that I use for longer approaches that has held up very well..

Mammut Trion line.  I have the pro 50+7, but they make it in a 35+7.  It is an amazing pack. Fits everything, is comfortable and low-profile.  It even stays cool on the back.  I cannot say enough good things about it.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
