Climbing Near Ottawa Canada
|
Hey everyone - have a trip planned to Ottawa soon and am hoping to get out for some trad and sport climbing while there. Will be staying in the City so something relatively close would be nice. Anyone have any suggestions? |

While I have no personal familiarity with the area, I know that there are a number of climbing areas in the Ottawa vicinity. I believe that all are granitic/metamorphic rock formations that are part of the Canadian Shield--some of the oldest exposed rocks on the planet. Several of the most-developed areas are along the Ottawa River, in particular the cliffs around Kingston Mills have been climbed on for many years. I'm pretty sure that there is an Ottawa Section of the Alpine Club of Canada that might be a good place to look for more information. |

Hey! There’s some good climbing about 30 minutes away in Gatineau Park, or if you don’t mind a drive, there’s some great stuff in Calabogie! |

I know nothing of the area, just wanted to point you toward the climbing area map that may help (in case you didn't already know about it): https://www.mountainproject.com/map/105948616/ontario |

I'm from Ottawa, so personally familiar with the area, and with most of the climbing (though not bouldering) areas around. |
