I read the camping isn’t open till June? can you still camp here in May?

I bet you can camp along the road just south of the main area.  Bring your own water.

I haven't been yet this year, but in past years often the snow remains well into May hindering access, even very close to the official campgrounds/entrance to the main area, and roads in remain closed. I remember there was a website with road closure, and accessibility info. Sorry I don;t know the link.

There’s usually camping on the Blair Road and up by Curt Gowdy State Park

There is dispersed camping outside of the campground scattered throughout the whole area. Most of which I belive to be year round. If you're okay with camping outside of the campground, just take a look at the Medicine Bow National Forest Pole Mountain Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM). There are some seasonal designations, but you should be able to camp within 5 minutes of the campground. Dispersed Camping/Game Retrieval has a good description on the MVUM map. I hope this is helpful, non redundant information!

There's a little bit of snow at Walt's Wall but I didn't see any anywhere else. I hope they open the road soon. We've been car camping at the road closure and hiking in from there.

Call the Medicine Bow Forest office that's listed on the Vedauwoo forest service webpage.

Called a couple of days ago - the campground is open but they don't have the water turned on yet.  They are trying to get it on in the next two weeks, but need to test it before allowing campers to use it.

They also mentioned that many roads are closed but they are working on getting them open.

Note that the opening varies from year to year depending on the amount and timing of snowfall.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
