Hey, has anyone worn and climbed in the new Pythons and can speak about sizing, fit, and comparison to similar models (old python, drago, hiangle, other single velcro slippers)? Thanks.

I hope they are wider in the front.

I ordered a pair the other day from Epic TV. I downsized a lot per their suggestion... will let you know when they arrive next week.

I have a pair for sale in the sale forum. They end up stretching a lot. I got a 39.5 and wore a 40-40.5 Skwama. I used them in the gym mostly for probably 7-10 sessions. I'd say most of the stretching happened in the first 1-2 sessions when I was doing a lot of 8-10min traverses. They never felt sloppy. The toebox is like a higher volume Solution. Not as wide as a Skwama, but higher volume and much softer. Heel felt really secure for how minimal it was.

Anyone able to chime in on the fit of the new python compared to the original? I was a 39.5 in those and wondering if I should stick with the same. I'm a 40 in testarossa (original red/yellow) and 40.5 in kataki.

I bought a pair of the new pythons a little while ago. I can't compare to the original, as I never wore them, but Karl's description is reasonably close to my experience. I was wearing a pair of size 41 Muira VS before and bought a 40.5 in the Pythons, expecting a bit of stretch. Initially, they hurt to keep on for more than like 10 minutes, but as expected they have stretched out and now feel much less uncomfortable. I still need to take them off after a couple climbs at the beginning of a session, but after I get warmed up they don't really hurt much at all.
I would probably guess 39.5 would be about the right size for you if you were wearing a 40-40.5 in other Sportiva shoes.

Timely bump. Thinking of ordering these, but anyone know what last they're on or how they size compared to the Maverink? I'm a 39.5 (first size I can get on my foot) in Maverinks. Not sure whether to go for the same or further down for the stretch. Wish they brought these to North America and I could try them on.

I went with the same size as Maverinks, which is a full size down from my other Sportivas.

Probably overthinking here, but how do these compare to the Maverinks? I was going to get a pair for plastic pulling over the winter here, but with the spring quickly coming the Pythons are tempting me. They seem to address every concern I have with the Maverinks (the Pythons have more rubber, the strap alleviates the worry of heel popping, they are more aggressive and have a regular sole). Seems like they would work better as a soft shoe for outdoor boulders too. But something about a pair of Maverinks seems fun, especially on smeary slab. Maybe I should get both eventually.

Dan I have a pair of maverinks that I got for gym training, but they are now just relegated for friction slab. Couldn’t heel hook in them well, but more important I just never felt like I could toe in the same to pull my hips over the foot. The old pythons were my comparison, greatly prefer them.
I actually prefer dragos to pythons for the gym, but the ultra sticky rand rubber gets shredded if you flag/scum hard. I wear through rands well before even needing the first resole on those and never needed a toe cap on another shoe.

Recently bought the new pythons after climbing in the old ones for like a year. Clearly remember that when trying out the old ones I could not get my feet into anything smaller than 42. With the new ones I downsized to 40 and they feel about as tight as my old ones did when new. Everyone’s feet are different and maybe my pain tolerance is slightly higher now, but that’s my experience, in case anyone is still looking to order them. Also second J T, definitely better fit.

I'm wearing 43 street shoes, 40.5 with LS Miura VS and LS Mantra, 42 with Vapor V and Instinct VS. Any suggestion on the sizing of new python? I guess 40 or 39.5 maybe?
