So I was watching Octopussy and in the opening scene James Bond lands his nifty horse carriage mini-plane on this air strip with some cool peaks and towers in the background.
IMDB says the final flight scenes were shot near Kanab, UT. I couldn't find anything even remotely close on Google Earth, so maybe MP could identify. I'm not super familiar with UT, but this looks like it could have been shot in NE Mexico. Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? This just proves my theory that the Modern climber is becoming softer by the minute....... Bitd we would have driven out there.....with a case of pbr and a less than desirable pile of gear. Now, in two seconds with idmb and Google earth if the question still isn't answered you ask the interwebs........ ;) thoughts......

Why watch Octopussy when you could be watching a real climbing movie like Vertical Limit?

Airstrip is Hurricane Mesa "Flying Monkey" mesa. He flies under the La Verkin bridge over the Virgin river. Kolob Canyons seen in the distance, as well as the southern area of Zion Yes, they really blew that plane up at the end of the movie in Virgin, UT.
check out other Zion classics...

The OP's photo is indeed New Harmony.
Brigham Young had old Fort Harmony built as part of his detente with the Southern Paiute. "Its cheaper to feed them than to fight them." It was prone to flooding so the town was built on higher ground nearby, hence the name.
Once in early '81 I was soloing on Touchstone marveling at the lack of traffic below. At the end of the day I heard that it was because everybody was watching them shoot the "horse runs free" scene for Electric Horseman down canyon.
