Climbing Helmet AKA Bike Helmet.

I'm looking for a new climbing helmet . I am also looking for a new bike helmet. This statment should speak for itself, I'm on a budget. Anyone use a single (Adult) helmet for both climbing and riding, if so which one?

Also, are there any climbing helmets to avoid?

Maybe look at the new Petzl Meteor? Its rated for ski alpinism, which is probably more protective than a helmet that isn't. My friend bikes with his BD Vapor, and cracked it pretty bad while it was dangling from his backpack during class.

Black Diamond Half Dome helmets are <$42 on climbstuff.com right now. You can't beat the price at that quality. You could surely get a cheaper priced bike helmet somewhere as well. Probably better than combining for both activities with one helmet. 

I think my camp armor helmet was $30 on REI garage. Alternatively you wouldn't be the first person I've seen wear a skateboarding helmet at the crag or on a bike. But damn they get hot and sweaty in the summer months.

What kind of cycling are you doing? Most bike helmets are designed for high-impact and crumpling. They smash so your skull doesn't. Most climbing helmets like the BD Half-Dome are primarily "bump" helmets. Meaning they protect you from crap falling on your head. Two different jobs. Good bike helmets tend to have ventilation on top, right where a rock is likely to fall on your head climbing.
