Best rope coil for putting on top of a smaller pack?

I just recently picked up the Mountain Hardware Multipitch 25 pack and am extremely happy with the purchase so far with one minor hitch.  I'm still trying to find the best coil to use for carrying a rope on top of the pack without it draping down too much and flopping all over the place.  Best I've found so far is a butterfly with the wrap in the middle so I can capture that with the rope carrying straps.  Anyone else have some ideas?

New England finish aka nail bight finish. Make the loops smaller so they don't dangle below the pack.

Alpine coil? I hate it because it kinks your rope, but it carries so nice.

Did you buy it from Uncle Dan's when they had that crazy sale?!

Like everyone else said, butterfly coil is still the best way to go (with the finish in the middle instead of backpack-style), you just have to keep the loops small enough so they don't hang below your pack. You can try this alternative method to do the butterfly coil which is easier to keep the loops consistent, but it's a bit of a pain with a long rope.

Naw, I got it direct from MH's site when they had a deep sale on all their packs.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
