Is there a reliable water source at Table Rock if backpacking to the parking lot campground?

None I've found.  There's some seepage on the trail into the amphitheatre, but nothing I would rely on without a filter.  Hopefully someone else has been more successful...

There's a Linville Gorge Facebook Group (it's called, "The Linville Gorge Facebook Group") which might be a source of good information.

The wilderness map at lgmaps.org shows a water source near table rock itself, but I have no other information about it other than it shows up on the map.

This is the best source of info for everything Linville Gorge, highly suggest downloading the linville gorge map in the Avenza app if you're new to the gorge.

There are not any good water sources around the table rock camping area, the closest reliable source is just west of table rock itself (the one shown on the lgmaps.org map).

If you hop on that Linville gorge fb page you'll see a recent post discussing it.

Pipe spring, straight from mountain, flows well. Plus a pointer on how to find the trail I missed when I was looking for it.

thanks everybody. this is the first time since 2008 that I wish I had a facebook. we backpacked up to table rock, hiked in all our water and climbing gear, climbed 3,000 ft for our 30th birthdays and backpacked back out. our pee was fairly yellow by the end of it but it all worked out. glad to know about that pipe spring in the future though!

The sky! Sorry, couldn't resist -- spend much time in Linville and you'll likely agree.

Seriously though, there are water sources at or near:
  1. The saddle between TR/little TR
  2. A small one on the TR summit trail, just beyond the climbers' trail turnoff
  3. Down in the Ampitheater descent gully
  4. Several good sources along the gravel road from Gingercake, including the parking lot for sitting Bear -- 1 mile in.
Most are likely to be running but it can get pretty dry there in the middle of summer.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
