Anyone know a good place around Vegas to get free water at a spigot or something?

I think Whole Foods can sell you filtered water that doesn’t taste like it’s been flushed through a dozen upstream toilets. If that doesn’t matter to you, I’ll bet the rock gym or DRS can help you out.

The city park at the Gun Club crag (Cliff Shadows) has a water spigot to fill up. The gas station at the Smith's on Rainbow and Windmill (close to one of the many nice libraries in Vegas) has a spigot. Note that I mean next to the gas pumps, not next to the store itself which has the pay to fill stations.

The campground also has water but I wouldn't trust that...

Otherwise there's those pay to fill stations at most grocery stores if you're in a pinch, usually about $2 for 7 gallons.

You’ll waste a lot of $$ in gas chasing free water that will taste like junk. Just pay the $2 or $3 to fill up out of the filtered water dispensers at Smiths when you buy food.

You can get 4L jugs of water at Walmart for $0.97 each.

In other words you can get a week's worth of water that doesn't taste like crap for less than the cost of the gas you'd be burning driving around looking for free water that is likely to taste like crap.

Last I checked, the visitors center has water; the outside spigot by the outhouse building works even when the center is closed (unless freezing temps/gmnt shutdowns...).

I'm really surprised it took this long for this comment to arise.

Timely thread for me...

Making my question a little more specific: is the spigot in the park visitor center (or any of these other ones) threaded to accept a garden hose or the like? I'd like to fill the water tank in my van and that's the best way to do it. Some of the spigots I've seen around are un-threaded and just for filling jugs, even including spring loaded handles, and those don't work well for me. I'm happy to pay for water, but would be great to avoid a lot of driving around :)

These are helpful sometimes.

I use a Water Bandit all the time.

You can buy bottled spring water in the Summerlin Albertson's for something like a buck per gallon bottle.

Senor Arroz, Malcolm: you guys are rocking my world!

...and, my question still stands.

mike again, the Water Bandit screws into the female end of  a hose. The rubber part slides over the spigot, with or without threads.

There’s water, water, everywhere!

You might also shop for a "water key" that makes even more faucets available.
