Looking for a good Travel Hangboard

Looking for something (could be the Tension Board, could be Metolius Rock Rings... or something really cool I've never even heard of before) that I can take with me on trips to places with no gym/no rock, and easily hang off a tree, off a doorpost, off of something in a shitty hotel room (work travel)...   So I guess I have a few questions:

  • What products are people using and recommending here (and why)?  I'm doing a mix of repeaters and/or max hangs (but not traveling with weights of course) so repeaters would probably be more logistically feasible.  that's fine.  better than just drinking beer.
  • How are you attaching such product overhead (is there a good way to get it hung from a doorway using a removable system?
  • Does anyone have something they aren't using and are interested in selling?  I leave for Costa Rica to surf on the 20th, so looking to get something in my hands soon.

Door Frame?

Door frames are often metal (shitty hotel rooms), and often poorly made to the point where i can damage or rip them out, plus sharp edges, plus unknown/unmanageable edge width, plus No.  Thanks though,  NEXT.

Just go do Face Out. Oh wait. You can't  anymore.

People seem to be big fans of these things: https://www.tensionclimbing.com/product/the-block/

If your shitty hotel has a gym, typically they have a pull up bar. You could attach these there. Or if they just have weights, you can attach the weights and lift upwards instead of hanging.

P.S. You're an idiot.

Edited to add: I ordered some holds from this company: https://digitclimbing.ca/products/yubi. Apparently, you can buy some foot attachment and "Hangboard" while sitting on your ass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=SzJRspQALak. An interesting idea, though seems most effective for training your ability to feel depressed that you're alone and spent money on a dumb product rather than strengthening your fingers.

The Tension Flash Board is what you want, for a portable hangboard. There are other similar products that are also pretty good, but none match the usability, well-thought out design, and manufacturing quality of the Flash Board.

sounds like you're much stronger than me, I'm pretty intimidated by your ability to break door frames.  You must crush real rock as well.

Birdman- I'm actually asking because i'm training for a 1 day, 100 ascent FaceOut record. Will you be my spotter?

That would literally be 100 more ascents than I have ever done. I'm still at 0.

Tension flash board. Bring a double length sling and biner and rely on trees and railing posts on hotel balconies. Pull-up bars in gyms are great if you get so lucky.
You can use the sling to add weight too. Just put rocks/water bottles/whatever in a bag and girth hitch the sling around your waist and hang the bag from it.
The flash board takes a small amount of time to get used to, but it’s great and very versatile. There are smaller boards, but if you need small edges and a lot of control, spring for the flash board.

Awesome woodys out of Australia have the best portable hangboards.

The only place that I have found them in NA is at Climb On in Squamish

i've been happy with the flash board, although i mostly use it to warm up at a crag with sharp rock to save skin

When traveling, I take the Tension Blocks (2x) and resort to a density hangs or Bechtel 3-6-9 protocol.  I don't feel like I get strong using those protocols, but I definitely don't lose any strength.

The Block is inconspicuous, fits easily into carry-on luggage, and doesn't look like a bat to airline security (the Flashboard is cool, but a jumpy security guy will say it's a weapon).

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
