I am normally the type that washes outdoor clothes just like I would anything else, but this jacket is awesome and I want it to last. Any advice on best washing method? Im thinking light detergent, cold, delicate cycle, in a laundry garment bag (like women wash bras and underwear in).

Then hang until mostly dry then tumble dry low. Please advise. Thanks!

That worked for me. I used a biodegradable no fabric softener soap then sprayed it with TX Direct.

Use a soap that is “residual free” like Nikwax Tech Wash or similar. That’ll do the trick and just follow the instructions.

Don’t wash it, bro. Let it smell like adventure

If you just want to use a normal detergent just make sure it's not a fabric softener and rinse it after to get rid of residue.

Techwash, warm/cool water, casual/gentle cycle, tumble dry low. Comes out clean and fluffy.

Arc'teryx recommends the garment bag for washing the Atom LT so you're right on track

Stick to delicate cycle and wash it separately, you'll be fine.

Arcteryx recommends Grangers but Nikwax is pretty much the same thing. Definitely use a tech wash or a basic soap (NOT detergent). I like to do an extra rinse, and then putting it on low heat in the dryer helps get back the DWR for a bit. I think Arcteryx has care instructions on their website for the Atom.

For anyone intetested: i wound up using grangers technical wash, sprayed it with grangers dwr restore while still wet, and tumbledried on low inside out (per arcteryx instructions on the website). Came out great.

Been tossing mine with regular laundry and detergent for 5 years now still going strong. Don't worry too much about babying it. I got tired of buying fancy gear wash and doing separate loads pretty quick. Haven't seen a difference

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
