Alright, here's the deal... My DIP joint on my left middle finger has been more or less sore for a month??ish now. It doesn't bother me while climbing, but when I'm not climbing it will be rather achy throughout the day. This is coming on the heels of "Oh it's winter I'm going to boulder and hangboard a bunch!" kind of training.
Really I'm just curious to hear from others who have had a similar issue and what's worked and what hasn't as far as rehab and/or strengthening and/or fixing it. A bunch of rest? I've taken the last week off in the hopes of staving off a serious injury closer to climbing season.
FrankPS: Don't F@#$%^$ tell me to go see a doctor.
Any input/ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Mustard Tiger has got the idea. I've had this pain more times than i can count, including right now. I usually assume it is bursitis and simply lower the intensity on that finger for a bit. Cut off closed crimping for the time being. Use a finger massage ring every day. Cold water baths and just overall be mindful of it.
I've been putting up with left middle finger knuckle swelling, pain, limited ROM for over 3 years now. The other middle finger (stronger, dominant hand) just started the same objective signs this year. I'll try to get it checked out before spring.
The ligament on my medial joint is the most painful. Pushing my finger laterally, distal to that joint, hurts a lot.
