I have some plans this summer to hopefully be working as a climbing guide in the Conway area. I REALLY don't want to pay for an apartment or deal with any of that bullshit, so I'm wondering if there are good spots in Conway to park the old outback and bum it out of the car for the summer.

unfortunately NoCo banned parking overnight in their local walmart as it is a big climbing mecca for the northeast.  I am not endorsing this but assuming you car has blinds to prevent people from seeing in, you can park on the kancamagus highway at various trailheads or the parking lot at pinkham notch--both are a ways out of town though.

+1 trailsheads off the Kanc are probably the way to go. I've done this myself for a few day at a time, not an entire season. You'll want to move around so you don't get too conspicuous. There is no single spot where it's legit, at least nowhere that's going to get posted to a public forum.

I would assume that your guideing company would know the spots. Obviously look on the map for forest circius land but they often do not allow dispersed camping in the east.

There are primitive camping spots ($0 day, no facilities) off the National Forest's Slippery Brook Rd, which is about a 5-10 minute drive outside Bartlett up Town Hall Road, which is off Route 16 1000 feet north of Ragged Mountain Sports.  That's your best bet.  First come first served, lots of places to pull off, very quiet.  May need a WMNF parking pass at $20/year or so.

Fourth Iron Campground has walk-in campsites for $16/night.

Maybe someone would AirBnB you their backyard.

Town Hall road. Don't park in Pinkham, they will take notice.

Lol make sure the pull off is a trailhead and not an overlook... whoops!

Re' Nat. Forest "Trailheads" - In NH there are those that require a parking fee (aforementioned $20-$25? / yr pass). These usually have a toilet (no water), and usually are a bit off the road, but also attract the rangers to take a look, so a night or two might be OK, but continuously...???  Other trailheads are more primitive, but no fee, BUT also are usually closer to, if not directly, on the road.
That being said there are many established, free, "primitive" camping "areas" in the WMNat Forest, but most will be 30-40 min drive from No Conway. Whether there's a 14-day limit, I don't know.
Finally, if you have a tent there are many other spots you can park, [and addition to the aforementioned pay and free trailheads]  "hike" 5-10 min into the woods and set up for the night.  I think the rules are 200 ft from water and 200 ft from a trail. You can find out when you pick up your parking pass at a Ranger station.

Of course, there are "pay" campgrounds throughout the area.  I'd expect the fees for "I only want to tent or sleep in my van" are fairly modest, and you'd get running water, hot showers, etc. If you get here in, say, early-to-mid May and strike a 2-3 month deal I'd expect prices would be even more reasonable.  The campground in Glen, NH (about 10min from NoConway) has been the site for climber's get-togethers in the past.

As for the "hopefully work as a guide", you should probably have some sort of commitment before you come.

If you’re in a Subaru, your selection for parking really opens up. I’ve spent 2 1/2 seasons in the valley full time car camping. You need to move around. As with anywhere, nobody wants the same old rig in their lot night after night. Get a ‘rotation’ of 10+ spots and move around. Nobody will notice. This is applicable to anywhere. Hotels... Home Depots ... Community lots... Anywhere 24hours (Hint: Dunkin’s donuts)...  Go into IME and I’m sure you can get at least 2 spots to add to that rotation.

For ‘what not to do’ - Don’t block dumpsters. Don’t park in the very back, super sketchy, away from everyone. If there are clear ‘for customers only’ dont Park there. Unless you went in and bought something earlier :-).

If you’re looking for a ‘this right here is my spot to camp, all summer long’ you won’t find that- unless you pay. Is this your first season full time in your car? If so - welcome. See you around!

I stayed on Town Hall Rd. most of last summer. Rangers only came by once and would probably not notice if you stayed a while. Dark, quiet and one of the spots has cell service; no high clearance necessary. 15 mins to Cathedral from there too. Highly recommended.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
