I've owned Blade Runner crampons for about four years now & I've happily ran them strictly as monopoints the entire time for water ice climbing. I just changed out some dull frontpoints and noticed that it appears it's possible to run these as dual-points, as seen below. Does anyone normally use Blade Runners in dual mode for steep ice, and if so, do you like it better than the monopoint configuration? Does a dual-point setup mitigate the efficacy of a monopoint system?
In dual mode, the frontpoints are much closer together than a traditional, dual-point crampon like the Sabertooth or Sarken. Does this aid or hinder use, or do anything positive at all? Again, I mentioned it *appears* they can be worn as dual-points. I'm not one-hundred percent sure, so I guess that's part of my question, too. Thanks!

100% can be used in dual front point configuration.
I have no experience with them though (out of my price range!).

you have one tip (right in your photo) attached to the center mount point. there is a screw hole on the little secondary point that you attach the other tip to.
i run them as duals and i think they are great like that.

i run them as duals and i think they are great like that. Maybe OP has "discovered" that they can be set up in offset dual mode, a little-used option of the Grivel G14 and the venerable Petzl M10.

I have mine set like that and I've been thinking that they are too close together. I seem to crush too much ice and destroy my foot hold with them. There is a still wider dual that I'll try on them. It could just be that I'm a bad ice climber too.

I sold my G14s, and only ran them in mono mode while I had them. But isn't it as simple as leaving the monopoint as it is (most likely in front of your big toe) and adding the second point outside of it (in front of your pinkie toe)? If you need spacers, get some washers at the hardware warehouse-store.

I have them, but have them set up in a wider position than you show when in dual point mode. I switch them out as the season changes - in dual mode early season, and mono later on. I think they work great in both configurations.
