Best stick clipping system?

After bailing on a few sketchy starts the last few weeks, I finally decided to get a stick clip.

What do you all do for your stick clips? I'm not necessarily set on buying something and I don't mind assembling something, but I don't want to have to create a new stick clip every time, so tape and branches are out.

Extendable 3-section 20' painters pole from Home Depot with a Superclip. http://www.libertymountain.com/products/5476/NTN18421

The new beta stick evo is pretty rad.  Super secure and folds down really small.

The Squid with an extendable paint pole of your comfort length. I also use an angle attachment with the Squid because it makes it easier, and adds about a foot to the pole length.

I have/had a Squid - went to the superclip because it seems to work easier and better.

and the superclip won't break anywhere near as easily as a squid

Definitely go with Superclip for functionality AND durability.

Another vote for the super clip. Works best with a 3piece 16ft extension pole. I have used the beta stick as well (old style) and it was pretty flimsy at full extension.

How is the super clip for retrieving a quick draw. Looks sketchy to get it fixed onto a previously hung biner. Also is it possible to thread a rope on perma-draws?

I've tried most of the various devices.  For me the Beta Stick works fine, especially when couple with a qd that has on one end the Mad Dog 'biner with the clip that holds the gate open.  Super easy to clip that way.

It works. Everything is more difficult the further off the ground it is, because the pole is harder to move with precision.

I think your using the “mad rock trigger wire”. That is a great setup, I put a couple small o-rings on the spine of the bolt side biner and attach my avalanche probe pole. Works great and compact enough to put in checked luggage.

I find it much easier than the Squid.

They all are.

Can't offer any help there as I've never done a route with perma-draws.

Easier with a superclip than with any other device.

Overhand knot is a way to go.

Okay, so, the superclip goes with a painters pole. What length of painter's pole do y'all use? I'm thinking a 6-12 extendable pole like this wold work (but I imagine it will be much cheaper at my local hardware store).

I have a 16' pole from Lowe's that is only 4'8" when collapsed.  Makes a great walking stick to the crag.

I'm a fan of the beta stick; I have the old one and just bought my friend the Evo. It's just dramatically more convenient to have a stick that (almost) fits in my 45L backpack (probably fits in a larger size). You can take it in carry-on luggage, it fits in cars without running the length of the car on top of seats, etc. It's also much lighter and because it fits in a backpack you don't have to carry it—no need to try scrambling up the approach with a 5 foot pole in your hand.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
