If so, what is the grade? Has the “Yosemite Big Walls” guidebook been updated since the rock fall?

It seems like it would be big news. I couldn't find anything on the internet saying it had been done.

I've done some poking around on the internet about this from time to time, I think the answer is no.

Perhaps Supertopo.com would be a good reference. Afterall, that's part of their mission to provide current beta and topos of Yosemite climbs.

Great question guys,

Here in the Valley there has not been a push to free climb the new bolt ladder on RNWF. That said, Jim Herson, who has climbed the route tons of times, says it would be relatively easy to find a traverse in either high or low on the route........maybe if there is a push for RNWF to be a free climb, we can get Alex Honnold or some pro to dial it in for the rest of us...... (the biggest factor seems to be that the free variations on the RNWF and nearby routes contain a lot of loose rock, so few folks have wanted to spend time up there working it all out, as the NPS geologist Greg Stock and my co-author Roger Putnam have said they believe that the chimney's are now compromised since the rockfall, so the potential for more, significant, rockfall on the RWNF is likely).
Woot! Erik
