Harness with built in ‘chalk bag belt’

I remember seeing a video (possibly from OR) where someone was making a harness that had a chalk bag belt, built straight onto the back of the harness. Like a little 8 inch section of webbing for threading your chalk bag on.

Does anyone remember the name of it, or who makes it?

Why tho?

You mean why stop at the chalk bag when you can build an entire pair of pants into your harness?

I'm sure it's not what you're referring to, but 20+ years ago the BD XX harness came with cord and tubing for the user to set up the gear loops as they pleased. (An idea that might appeal to the gear loop snobs out there?) I threaded it through the chalk bag I had at the time. Lots of downsides to doing that, as it was semi-permanent there.

Cassin Rumba has this feature.  I have one that I bought a couple years ago and never really used it, so I can't comment to the effectiveness, but I think the idea is that it will keep the chalk bag in place.  No more sliding around to the side.  It's also one less thing to have around your waist sometimes causes a weird issue with my shirt being tucked behind one but not the other and I have hell pulling it down.  I'm not explaining that well, but if it's happened to you, you know what I'm talking about.

Side note:  If you want this harness $20 plus shipping and it's yours.  I have others and will never use this one.

Isn't that the whole point of having your chalk bag on some type of webbing or cord? So it will be able to move around to where you need it/so it wont get in the way? I know I move mine around all the dang time to be able to get it out of the way as im worming my way something.

As said by someone above, having the two things around me means my shirt will stay tucked for about 3ft of climbing. I also somehow always get gear clipped to a chalk belt. I always keep my chalk bag at the back, even climbing chimneys.

I have a BD solution that has a little fabric insert, that with a simple zip tie you can quickly attach a chalk bag to it.

So you want to put on your harness every time you want a chalk bag with you?

I mean don't lots of people who boulder regularly have a second, bigger chalk bag for it?

No, I want my chalkbag every time I put my harness on.

I tied my old BD bag to the back of my harness long ago, and haven't regretted it since. I have a second one that I carry if I'm not wearing a harness. I'm not an overzealous chalker though.

And many thousands more who don't. Even so, the inability to move the CB into a good position for the antics at the time is a total deal breaker [intentional, snide, snarky clause: for anyone who climbs harder than 5.4!]

I’ve climbed a fair amount of chimney and it’s been more far more annoying having it on a belt for them. But I also use a chalk ball, and put my tether on like a thong, so I’m obviously not particularly concerned with the MP way of doing things.

Back on topic. It was basically this center loop but with a tiny buckle so you could thread chalkbags, or whatever you wanted onto it.

There actually are shorts for DWS that have a chalk pocket.

Most harnesses have a haul loop, and if (like me) you don't ever use the haul loop, you can just tie a chalk bag onto it with a bit of accessory cord. This is what I've done and it works great.

+1 (- i don't chimney all that often)

Do you also just clip your chalkbag to your haul loop? +1 bail biner, the way I see it.

Actually I currently clip it in between my two rear gear loops on a single locking oval. Gives me a bail biner, or a belay rappel device depending on need.

This was the setup I used on epinephrine, so no, it doesn’t cause a problem in chimneys. The bigger problem for me is a chalk belt in chimneys. Cause they get drug down level with the gear loops and crap gets clipped to the belt instead.

In reality I was just wanting to take another look at a harness I saw, but I guess no one else remembers what it was either.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
