Food that won't freeze?
I don't much want to put all my food into my sleeping bag overnight, so what are your meal recommendations that won't be blocks of ice in the morning? I've tried the Clif bar route, but those things turn into bricks! |

Think real food and look for stuff with a high fat content. Cliff bars are vile. |
Anything dry dude. Nuts, dehydrated meals or dehydrated potatoes, oatmeal... tons of shit...think about it. |
Lard and m&ms |
I go with dried fruit ... Trader Joe's Mango is a staple in my adventure diet ... its like carbohydrates jerky |
In terms of bars, hammer Nutrition’s bars don’t seem to freeze and remain edible even when it’s like -40 but are pricy I tend to stock up on them in the winter and eat pro bars and cliff bars in the summer. |
Almonds; tons of calories, fat for energy and do not take up much space. |
Shortbread cookies! |
Bourbon |
You're thinking about this all wrong. Take food that tastes good frozen...think rocket pops and ice cream sandwiches. |
Gu |
Whiskey. Also Vodka but fuck vodka, that shit's nasty. |

Bars that taste good, don’t freeze, and don’t upset my stomach during high output activity. But honestly I’m a fan of the real foods like bacon and bourbon suggested upthread. |

My wife and I invested in a freeze dryer so that we could have decent food in the backcountry. |
Pop Tarts. They're better frozen than toasted, and you can usually find them for about 1000 cal/$. God's perfect energy food... |
Panther Bars. I didn't think they froze but my wife proved me wrong at -20F. For climbing at more moderate temperatures they're pretty good snacks. |
VODKA |

High fat muffins like at the deli/coffee shops, brownies, and if you buy the pasta bagged meals (like Birds Eye) that are already frozen. Honey butter and tortillas you can wrap just about anything. |
Chocolate! Kit Kat bars are good to any temp and my personal favorite are the Ritter sport bars with hazelnuts pack about 700 calories per bar. Meat sticks, like slim Jim’s, but Dukes are way better. |

Thin-sliced salami and beef jerky are my go-tos at all times of the year. GU doesn't technically freeze but it does turn to the consistency of molasses when it gets really cold. Banana chips, freeze dried fruit, and nuts. I like really salty food and I've found that doesn't freeze as easily. |
