Re-slinging BD Cams
|
I know that there have been discussions in the past about re-slinging cams and I tried to contact BD twice over the past two weeks with no reply. |

I use Mountain Tools in California. www.mntools.com. Click on "services" |

Mountain Tools does a great job. |

Reslinging cams through Black Diamond is a pretty easy process. Don't know what you mean by "no reply," but did you follow the instructions on their website?: |

But you typically check out with the number of slings you want. Then you get an order number. Then you pack and send and include the order number. They have been nothing short of fantastic in re-slinging my cams. I would never do it anywhere else for Camalots. Product was as good as new and a very quick turnaround. Be aware that the area of the company that does this work is separate from online orders/etc..... and it is essentially staffed with people who are performing work, as there isn't much to discuss. You want a new sling, ok...buy it and send it in. New triggers, ok. Buy it and send it in. As far as them discussing this with you, there aren't a bunch of people sitting around to talk about your new sling or your new trigger. It is what it is. They are working constantly on those orders. It does sound like you are creating your own process a bit. BD's process starts with you ordering. |

In addition to reslinging the cams with the special doubled sling against the wire, Larry and Jane at Mountain Tools are an amazing resource for information with many decades of experience in all aspects of gear. |

Seems odd, I had a question before sending some cams in regarding some review comments about the slings not matching the original color codes. They were quick to respond and laid out the steps for sending them in. It's quite simple, purchase on the website and send them in. Also, they assured me that the mismatched sling color was an accident and not intentional. They were performed by a new employee, and have ensured they know to match the sling colors to the original now. |

This is the exact link I went to and I followed their instructions, especially the part that says if you live outside the USA or Canada you need to email our service department prior to ordering or sending anything. I have emailed them twice over the past two weeks without any reply. Since you live in the USA it might be easy and work straight forward with them, but with me living in Germany, it is not the same process. |

Do not use Yates. I sent in a set and the entire set was stolen after reaching them. This was about 2 years ago. They told me they were not liable, and to go through my own insurance to file a claim. I never saw the cams again. |

+1 for going through BD. Sure they’re slow, but they also replaced my x4 because they couldn't repair the trigger cord. No where else will do that sort of thing. |

Runout Customs |

Runout customs in fruita, CO. Google it. They do the best work for a good price and quick turnover. The competition isn't even close. |

Buck Rogers wrote: That's really surprising. Can you link to that instruction? They may have less customers that I am thinking, but that requires a personal response for EVERY client outside of the USA? WOW! Sounds like a terrible way to do business for them. Huge amount of work. I'd be surprised to see that. |

Wes Turner wrote: This is cut and pasted from FrankPS's link, the one that I had also found earlier (and if you open the link he sent, you can see it). The last line is the one that I am referring to: BLACK DIAMOND CAMALOT™ TRIGGER WIRE AND CAM RESLING SERVICE. We offer trigger wire repair and sling replacement on only Black Diamond Camalots: $15 for trigger wires and $8 for new slings. Return shipping fees will be calculated when you check out. Please indicate the quantity of each service you need, and then click "Add To Cart". We will respond via email with a Return Authorization number (RA) to track your cams. Please note that you will need an RA number BEFORE you can ship us the cams. If you live outside of the US or Canada, please email our Service Department. Edited to add: Ha! Someone from BD must read MP. They emailed me about an hour and a half ago in reply to my questions. Still not resolved but I am working it out with them. Obviously I want to go through them as my cams are all BD. Thanks for all the help and replies! |

Buck Rogers wrote: Wow, that's rough for you guys. I can tell you, they are not really staffed to handle email response very well. They are set up great for the automated process, but not emails. I had a long discussion on the phone with one of the guys who works there. I would try calling BD customer service. I got the guys on the phone in 5 minutes, and an email 5 minutes after that. |

I have sent many cams to everyone over 25 years. |

Ragged Mountain in NH does rieslings but the color doesn't always match and they don't do the double thickness around the wire... |
|
Mountain Tools for the win. Really fast turnaround too. Just got mine done there! Expert! |
|
Just a follow up on this thread. I finally sent my cams off to Mountain Tools and they were amazing with their service, turnaround time and communication. |

Just curious. People who have gone through Mountain Tools, how long did it take? I’ve ordered some stuff through them and they seem to take a week or 2 |
