Boulder X Replacement Laces

Anyone know of a good replacement lace that will go all the way through the La Sportiva Boulder X lace system?  I reached out to Sportiva, they do not sell replacement laces or offer the actual length of their laces in the shoes.

Any info would help.

Use very thin accessory cord. Works great and probably won't ever break. .

Edit: changed, "paracord" to, "accessory cord"

Thank you Long Ranger!  Will do.

If you pull the guts out of the center of the paracord before sintering it closed the cord will hold a knot better.

Whatever you use check to see if it will stay tied. Some of that slippery stuff will be maddening if you try to use it for shoestrings. I just stole some laces off an old pair of shoes when I chewed up my last laces. Alternately, just measure the remaining lace that is unbroken (assuming this is the case) and go buy some cheap boot laces from yr local Walmart. Regular laces work fine unless you want to have a dedicated emergency prussik/rap-anchor on your shoe...

This is what I use:

I bought it at the warehouse garage sale for like a $1. Seems to keep a knot pretty well. It's made for guy lines to tie things like tents down to stakes. A trucker's hitch used is a slip knot, similar to what you use for tying your shoes.

I guess I'm wary because I got directed to some cord one time at a climbing shop when I broke a lace while out cragging that day and the replacement cord they sold me suuuucked.

I was able to get a pair of laces from Eastside Sports in Bishop over the holiday.  They are easy to retrace through the thin lace loops and long enough for the shoe.  I've only put 3 days on these so far and they have been doing great, they stay tied really well.  See below.

I bought these from Amazon and they work great. I ordered the 84 inch length and they're slightly long, but a double knot when tying them will do the trick.

I

I re-laced mine with 72" laces (the red on the right) bought at REI. The laces were a bit long before, and now actually they are perfect. I wear size 45.5, and have a medium-narrow foot, so La Sportivas have always fit perfectly. Have three other pairs - Trango Evo, Bushido, and Cliff - and have never had the slightest problem with fit, blisters, etcetera ....

Thread Bump. I'm on the hunt for replacement laces.

Here's what i found for official laces:

but the link to those OEM laces is dead.

Looks like they can be found in other online stores, but all the links look a little wonky.

I might end up just going with power cord or accessory cord, but my worry is that accessory cord might be both slippery AND sharp, slice through the shoe material or lace on lace slicing.

Has anyone had that concern? Was it a problem?

I actually like the Sportiva laces. maybe im naive, but they seem like a good balance of soft and sticky sheath with a  strong core. The sheaths do seem to wear and snap eventually, but that gives a few months of wearing em on the core lace before that snaps too.

I've found that just lacing them like a normal pair of shoes works just fine. IMO,  their lacing system (Mythos) is mostly just a gimmick anyway. Good shoes, but the lacing system is annoying. I probably go through 2 or 3 pair a year, but they're just too comfortable to change.

For the initial shoe string issues (rubbing caused by the goofy lacing) I've found that just tying them back (with square knots) works fairly well and saves having to redo the whole system.

My 2 cents

Never had issues with any of the trail running or approach shoes except for the Mutant, which suck straight out of the box. No idea what people exactly to bust the laces so quick in the approach series. I never had to replace any.

I just replaced mine with 72" laces. They are the right length as they are similar in length to the original by about 2".

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
