I'm sure a topic like this has been discussed before, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience using the Sierra Design Convert 3 or Coppur Spur HV 3 Expedition. I am looking to get a 4-season tent that I can use in Washington State during the Fall-Spring. I want to get a tent that can still be used as a 3-season tent without it getting too hot or humid.
The main things I am planning on using this tent for are backpacking, and climbing Mountains within Washington and Oregon such as Adams, Hood, Baker, Rainier and other peaks within the North Cascades as well as I plan on using the tent for annual Early Spring trips to Smith Rock.
I am open to other tents, but these two are within the price that I am willing to pay and seem like a good 3-4 season option without the tent getting too bulky and heavy.
I haven't used those tents specifically, but I have, and LOVE the Convert 2. It has taken on some rough storms and held up really well. It vents well, no moisture stuck inside. BA tents tend to be great too. I think they both use the same fabric, so you really can't go wrong with either.
I got the Convert 2 and used it on Mt. Shasta for the Casaval Ridge. No bad weather to truly stress test it, but it was a great light 4 season tent. I'm not sure if it would hold up in a really bad snow storm. Roomy vestibule. I never looked into the Copper Spur.
Another vote for the Convert 2. Used it in the winter in the Sierra, and the summer in Japan. It worked better for the snow than the heat, but was passable for both.
