I use shoe goo it makes your entire hand really sticky and doesn't come off easy once it dries a little.

When I went to sniper school nearly every ghillie suit was held together by globs of that mess. Every time I see it written here the damn noxious smell come back to me.

Whatever's in the lost and found. It ain't the chalk it's the climber

Zen Lizard X-Chalk. Very fine powder and there’s cloves in it so it smells good and your gear bag smells good. Supposedly the cloves cool your hands too not sure I notice but it is pretty affordable.

whatever is available but would like straight chalk with no additives as I use it for emergency heart burn treatment and I suspect the Petzl  or metelious or whatever the stuff  that I have is likely not good for me???? seems decent enough and doesn't taste horrible.  I do like chunks mixed in  with the powder.

Is that 2 posts about shoe goo on 1 day? Are you affiliated? Give disclosure

I am just an addict. I have so many things held together with the stuff. I fix holes in my jeans, shirts, tarps, parts of my jeep, etc.

Frank Endo gymnastic chalk in blocks. I've been buying it at the Vertical Hold climbing gym in San Diego.

Anything liquid.  Petzl is reasonably priced.

Like Evolv's stuff since I use a refillable sock and the bag has a pour spout.

I use Bison Designs. It is $11 at REI.

At the gym, I put FL Unicorn dust in my chalk ball, then drop some FL Gorilla chunks in the bottom of the bag. Outside, it’s all Gorilla. I crumble the chunks in my hand and rub all over.

Metolius Super Chalk when it's hot, block chalk when it's not.  You gotta hand it to them- Friction Labs (and now 8aPlus) sure saw a market opportunity to take money from new climbers susceptible to flashy packaging and bogus "science".  The whole idea of "premium chalk" is laughable.

Just buy whatever is cheapest. Blocks, bags, whatever. It's chalk ffs.

Agreed. Is there any actual test data out there that shows that this "unicorn dust" or whatever actually yields more friction? I'm curious

Bison designs like 80% of the time. Friction labs the remainder of the time. I've found that on humid days FL works better.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
