Your best alpine pants?

Hey alpine peeps!  It's finally time that my climbing pants get retired.  The amount of Gear Aid on them rivals the amount of original stitching (exaggerating, but still).

What are your favorite alpine pants on the market these days?  I've been using a REIxMammut softshell pant that was really awesome but is unfortunately no longer seemingly made.  A big deal to me are reinforced inner ankle/calf areas, and ideally also reinforced knees and butt. Pockets are irrelevant to me.  I love the Mountain Hardwear Dragon pants for cold weather conditions, but they are too warm for normal climbing.

Let me know what you are using!

Rab Torque. Love'em.

These won't meet your requirements for reinforcements, but they have served me well for years:

they are definitely on the heavier side for shoftshell pants, so they won't see use in the summer, but are my go-to fall, winter and spring alpine pant.  in the summer i've been using these regularly...

I actually like those First Ascent pants a lot!  But I use them for less destructive activities haha

I use the Rab Calibre pant. Why Rab discontinued them is beyond me. They are the best softshell pant I have ever used for ice and mixed. If you can find a pair, get them.

Take a look at the Jottnar Vali pant. I would have purchased a pair but I didn't like the stitching on the kick patches so I passed. The seat and knees are reinforced just like you want.

The  G2 Mountain Pant is another good option, although I don't think the seat or knees are reinforced.

I've been using the dead bird gamma mx for the past couple years for all my cool weather high output activities and have never been disappointed. They are really expensive, I got mine from  a Salomon outlet sale for a more reasonable price. Aren't reinforced but no issues so far

I was going to say the mountain hardwear dragon pants but I'm in the same situation for lighter pants

+1 for the cirques. Cheap, comfortable, and durable.

I didn't like these. I found them too warm (even on Denali). I also really didn't;t like the flared bottoms meant to fit over the boots. Just my personal opinion.

Psiphon AR if you can find them on sale. The new Arc' ALPA AR pant looks sweet. I also enjoy the galvanized pant and don't get out enough to have ripped them yet.

The Psiphon AR seems awesome!  Unfortunately they in their refresh cycle so I'll have to wait a few weeks/months lol

Do you mean the Alpha AR?  Aren't they hard-shells?

Both very interesting options!  I'll order them and check them out!

Patagonia Simul-Alpine pant.  I use these for summer alpine rock missions to all but the coldest days ice climbing in Hyalite Canyon.   They're not reinforced, but for the price and durability, it may not be an issue.

The men's Psiphon AR Pants can still be had at Backcountry.com in most sizes and one men's large at Campsaver.com.

Another vote for the OR Cirque pants from me.

I love my Gamma MX.  I have an older pair of Patagucci pants that I really dig too.   They are mostly hard shell with soft shell on the crotch and thigh.   I think they called them the mixed guide pant.   I'm not sure about the Psiphon AR, but I have the FLs for rock and they are great.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
