Any climbers in the flatirons right now and willing to help me out? I got off route on the 1st and would rather bail than climb through. I've got a harness and tag line but I could use help from someone with gear. I'm the asshole standing in the middle of the wall rn

How is your mental state? Are you calm or freaking out? If you're freaking out try slowing your breathing down drastically as in a 5 second inhale hold for 5 seconds exhale slowly 5 seconds. Assess your danger and if it's too much don't be afraid to call authorities. I'm 4 hours away sorry man

I know calling SAR sounds sucky, but please call them instead of getting yourself hurt or killed. I promise the folks at Rocky Mountain Rescue Group are cool.

It wasn't so much an emergency as an inconvenience. I didn't call Sar because it was non urgent and I have people in denver who could have come if necessary. I guess the post sounded worse than it was, I was mostly wondering if people who were climbing the first anyways would let me bail on their gear, sorry if I scared anyone

Now I am curious to know is this the first time a MP forum was used to ask for help in real time?

Sorry for your misadventure man i just hope your safe and all good ...and learned a lesson.
Also i absolutly do not believe that you can onsight trad 11s, and flash 12s at the new and the red and yet you wanna bail from a 60 degree slab bc you got lost on the 1st flatiron where the hardest routes are light 5.8s while all the other routes and anywhere inbetween are easy 5.5 5.6 climbing..i mean u can solo all over this thing which practically is a climb anywhere face...how unprepared were you? Did you forget that the thing is over 1000 feet tall?

His ticks say he climbs 5.12+ (supposedly, also much harder than I climb haha), so what happened here? Never been on something long and got scared?

For those of you who were wondering about the story, Ross is mostly right. I was planning on onsight soloing the first and planned to climb the direct route but since my route finding is shit I ended up on what I later found out is red slab variation. I pulled some moves I didn't really want to reverse and saw a thin looking section and small loose looking overhang above me, and I wasn't super stoked with not knowing what was going on up ahead so I posted here to see if anyone was climbing and felt like climbing the route and letting me bail (which feels kinda selfish thinking about it in retrospect). I decided I was being silly since none of the climbing on the described routes was hard and if I wan't on a route I'd be able to connect with something. So I just pulled through the section, which ended up not being so bad (like you all were saying). A friendly soloist came along and I followed him to the top. I only hopped on somewhat blind because I knew most of the climbing I would be comfortable with soloing, and it ended up being fine but I should probably have had more experience on bigger climbs before hopping on this.
But with everyone mentioning the grade disparity. I'm not a stellar soloist and I'm not trying to push grades with soloing, just have fun. When it stopped feeling fun I decided to see if there was an easy out. Kinda like getting lazy and pulling on gear, definitely not my finest moment...

Thank you for sharing, Ian.
Brings to mind that sinking feeling most of us have experienced a time or two. Glad you kept it together.
