Anybody have recommendations for extra wide fit approach shoes? I wear regularly a 4E width and sometimes even a 6E. Millet? Scarpa? Ideally the lighter the better.

The La Sportiva TX 4 might be what you're looking for. I have pretty wide feet and still more than enough room in the toebox. However I'm not sure if I would consider my feet extra wide so take that with a grain of salt please. Those shoes are awesome btw, insanely comfortably and very grippy sole. They are pretty soft though which might be worth considering depending on how hard you plan to climb with them.

Usually la sportive is considered super narrow - what width are you guys? E, 2E?

I've tried a lot of approach shoes and TX3 has the widest toe box.

Never would have even considered la sportiva but Ive always heard great things about everything they make. Gonna try these and the TX2/TX4 out.
Anybody know if the whole TX series has the same fit?

I went with Scarpa Zodiacs and they seem to have a wide enough forefoot for me (EEE)

The TX2 supposedly has the same last but I found them significantly lower volume and narrower than the TX3/TX4. The 3 and 4 have the same fit though.

La Sportiva sizing is just weird, so if you usually run in a 45, a LS 45 isn't going to fit you - move on up to a 46. They def. aren't on the super-wide side like an Altra shoe is, but there are def. narrower lasts out there. The TX series is so wide I move down from a 46 trailrunner to a 44 for a TX3/TX2. I don't know about 4E tho.

To the OP: consider finding a shoe you like in 4E and getting them resoled in dot rubber?
The only thing you'll really miss from a shoe like the TX is the "rand" around the toe. I write that in quotes since the rubber around the forefoot sort of acts like a rand, and def. isn't manufactured like one from a climbing boot. Adds a bit of protection though.

I'm rocking 5.10 Tennies a half size larger to give me some width.
The widest toe box in an approach shoe I found was made by Boreal.

I have some 5.10 Guides from about 5 years ago which fit my very wide foot, sized up .5 from my street shoe size. But I don't know if 5.10 has changed the shape in the past few years - anybody have insight on that?

The TX4's I have are the widest fitting in the toe I've ever had, and I've tried/had all the above suggestions.

Five Ten Camp 4 ( and Mid ) is very wide. I have uber-wide duck feet and I have to cinch them down. They are not great shoes if you are actually climbing in them, but they are great for scrambling 4th class and hiking.

I have the TX4s and had the same initial reaction of, What? Sportiva has a wide shoe? As far as approach shoes go, I’m still getting used to them compared to guide tennies (the old version).
Just don’t expect the TX4s to be waterproof. I find the goretex on these to be pretty poor. Which is a shame.

Yeah I got them to keep my feet dry in snow as I was dealing with weird skin things my partner was convinced was trench foot haha.
