I have been wanting to learn Trad for a while now, but my climbing partners are only interested in sport. I want to learn how to lead multi pitch Trad but need a mentor or a partner. Have some gear and lead about a 5.10c sport. will drive or pay gas.

Take lessons. You'll learn alot more, far more quickly and you'll be assured of learning everything correctly. Scott Perkins at Alpine Leadership and Professional Services comes highly recommended.

If you're looking to meet more like-minded climbers, you might want to check out the Atlanta Climbing Club. Many of our members are into the trad thing. We're having a meeting next Thursday, Sep. 6 at the Concourse Athletic Club. Our speaker will be Arno Ilgner, and he'll be talking about some of his notable ascents and experiences back in the day. Should be a good time, and it will draw some of those crusty old mentor types out of the woodwork!

To echo what Chris said: even if you have a mentor, a day spent with Scott Perkins would be money WELL spent.

Check out the SCC (Southeastern Climbers Coalition), as well. Go to a local trail day or a fund raiser (follow them on FB or find them on the Google machine for details). Def a great way to meet and mingle with local tradsters. See you there.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
